This is an extremely bizarre and very recent missing persons case. I researched and found out a whole bunch of baffling info:
33 year old Mark Luplow was last seen in Lansing, MI a little more than a week ago. He is described as a normally calm, happy and intelligent person, but had exhibited signs of mental illness a few days before his disapperance. He had just found religion in the days preceding his disappearance, and wanted to stay awake for 3 days "because that's what God did." He had been hospitalized twice in the days preceding his disappearance, including one for jumping off a balcony and injuring his shoulder. He is an entrepreneur who had just invented a product and planned on releasing it in the coming weeks. His cell phone pinged in the area around his house, and he was last seen walking towards a wooded area by his house. Searchers sent dogs to said wooded area, but have found no trace of him. A witness claims to have seen him in the Frandor area, but I don't know how legitimate the sighting is. Oddly, 2 people were shot dead there a few weeks ago in a case I don't believe is connected to this (they caught the perp soon after the killings). Now, one thing that is truly baffling is that his girlfriend claims he said he was going to Mount Pleasant to get a haircut. Mount Pleasant is about a 1-1 and 1/2 hour drive from here. I have no idea why he would travel that distance just to get a haircut. This is the type of case that sends shivers down one's spine. Hopefully he is found safe soon. If he isn't, I think this case could go national. http://thelostnmissing.blogspot.com/...e-24-2014.html |

That sudden change in mental state is very intriguing to me. Provided that it is in fact a change not brought about by a chemical substance or a head injury, it reminds me of something like the manic phase observed in bi-polar disorder--namely the express desire to stay awake for long periods of time (not that I'm attempting to diagnose--just wondering aloud).
I'll be following this one. I hope he's found soon, safe. |

here is another article. This states that Luplow's girlfriend stated he had an out-of-body experience just prior to his disappearance. There has been no acitivity on his credit card or bank accounts, which has me concerned. Luplow was taking new medication that might have caused "delusional and suicidal behaviors".
Freaky stuff. http://detroit.cbslocal.com/2014/07/...ience/#respond |

Sad news. Luplow's remains were recently found. No cause of death yet, but police do not suspect foul play.

The staying up for two days thing really bothers me. Reminds me of cases like John Cheek and Phillip Taylor Kramer. |
