The new Mill Creek DVD's show a longer running time than the Sony discs...I wonder if the cut stuff has been restored?

I bought it today because I looked for reviews on this topic online but couldn't find any. While I haven't checked all the episodes, episode #16 on the Sony release has the season three opening. I assume that was one of the edited episodes. On the Mill Creek version, it's the correct season one opening. So that's a good sign.

so i am watching Sea. 1 of "Soap" on Netflix streaming...& just found a scene not on the dvd's....when Jessica is talking about Mr. Rollo(in ep 16), the clown who died at her birthday party, she starts talking about a rabbit who died as well but the dvd set cuts to Burt walking in the kitchen....i knew it didn't sound familiar after all the dvd viewings i've done...LOL surprising it's cut on the dvd set...& now i found one on ep 17 when Jess is having her mug shot taken she's says their family photographer should take her pic...also cut on the dvd set...& when Danny meets Mr. Lefkowitz he gets on the phone & tells someone to "kill him"...total of about 2 mins on each episode!???!
I copied & pasted this from my review of Soap when it was on Netflix, these were a few of the cuts I noticed.

I remember when I did my original DVD viewing of "Soap" (back when season four was released) and when episode 16 came on and it had the season three opening, it was quite jarring to me, lol. I'll look up those scenes in a moment but if nothing else, I at least get the correct opening credits for that one this time.

I sometimes forget how funny this show was.

I just checked and YES that scene you described IS in the Mill Creek version! Glad I picked this set up today.

Do you know if the other seasons had edited episodes on the Sony releases or just season one?

Thanks for the information Adam! Is episode 2 on the Mills Creek set edited? I've read that Sony cut out Jody singing "There's Nothing Like A Dame" and the godfather humming a tune. I believe episodes 17 and 19 are edited on the Sony sets too.

I just checked episode 2 and it didn't have Jody singing that son nor did the Godfather hum a tune. So I guess those were still edited.

Also, episode 17 had the season three opening! Episode 19 had the season one opening.

This is kind of disappointing. I was all happy, thinking I had a 100 percent unedited DVD of "Soap" and now I find out it has some edits.

I wonder why they would use (what I'm guessing is) the season three opening in season one.

Well, at least you do have more of the show than before. I didn't expect the songs to be there since they weren't on the more expensive Sony set, but I'm so bummed they mangled the episode opening. According to tvshowsondvd.com's SOAP listing, episode 19 on the Sony set is missing the "On the last episode of SOAP" recap.

Ugh! SOAP is one of my favorite shows. I wish someone would get it right. According to Amazon.com reviews, season 4 is the most edited of the Sony sets.
