Taken from Wikipedia: Wally Gator is one of the segments from "The Hanna-Barbera New Cartoon Series". The other segments that compose this trilogy are "Lippy the Lion & Hardy Har Har" and "Touché Turtle and Dum Dum". The segment consisted of 52 episodes over two seasons. |

I remember the Wally Gator cartoons that aired on WVTV in Milwaukee when we first got cable in 1975. It was part of the station's Cartoon Carnival show on Saturday afternoons. It has been rarely scene on any channel since then. I remember the theme song that concluded with the line "See you later Wally Gator."
That's probably what Warner Bros. is thinking about releasing Wally Gator on DVD. When it will come out, I don't know. |

I'm hoping for all the Hanna-Barbera cartoons to be on DVD real soon...I just bought a collection of Hanna-Barbera cartoons that were the best.
A box-set from "Ruff and Reddy" to "Secret Squirrel" would be sufficient, even a revamped show with these characters would be cool. |

I'd love to see Wally Gator and all the other Hanna-Barbera cartoons come to DVD someday. I know a Wally Gator VHS tape was released a few years back, at least.

I hope Warner Bros. releases "The Hanna-Barbera New Cartoon Series" to DVD real soon...they've already released "Loopy de Loop" on DVD...it seems these H-B Characters have a cult following....

I remember Lippy the Lion and Hardy Har Har. Lippy sounded like a Sgt. Bilko type character and Hardy was a sad hyena who would usually say "Oh dear. Oh my. Oh my. Oh my."

Yes this was a classic. I also liked Pixie Dixie and Mr Jinx. Snooper and Blabber Augie Doggie and Doggie Daddy etc. How about Touche Turtle and Dum Dum Dum Dum was voiced by Alan Fred Flintstone Reed. These were all Hanna Barbera Productions.

It did make it to Blu-ray.
A true people-person alligator, Wally is driven by his excessive curiosity and his bon vivant inclinations to seek out new experiences beyond the city zoo where he hangs his porkpie hat. Donning a variety of hilarious disguises, Wally escapes the care of dedicated zookeeper Twiddle only to end up crying Oh, fuddle-dee-doo! as he lands himself in a series of ever more ridiculous (and dangerous!) jams! This is another of the Hanna-Barbera cartoons which are on Blu-Ray and are on MeTV Toons, on an 11 am (ET) two hour-block.
https://www.metvtoons.com/schedule/ As I said on another thread, the major H-B cartoon which is missing now is Quick Draw McGraw. Word on the street is that Warner Archive is in the process of remastering these cartoons, but the street has been pretty quiet for a while. If and when it's done, MeTV Toons will probably have a separate half-hour of the Quick Draw McGraw Show, which ran for three seasons, 1959-1962. In addition to Quick Draw, the other segments were Augie Doggie and Doggie Daddy (voiced by an impressionist mimicking Jimmy Durante), and Snooper and Blabber. Among the three segments per episode, a total of 135 cartoons were produced. |
