Default Is the Cosby show being overplayed?

Now what do you think. Is the Cosby Show being overplayed? I know for years I stopped watching it because I saw those episodes over and over. In a way, they are like I Love Lucy and All in the Family re-rune. Recently, I started seeing them again and getting some on tape. Now, what I am talking about in this question is the Cosby Show's availability. Here is what I mean.

The Cosby Show is currently running on these stations...
As of March 2002....
3:30pm WGN (Cable/Sattellite)
4:30pm on WCIU-TV Chicago
5:00pm and 5:30pm on TBS
8:00pm on Nick At Nite
Also with video availability on Columbia House as well.

Now this is the way to kill a show, by playing it to death and beyond like All in the Family.

AITF plays on
WPWR-TV, Nick at Nite, TVLAND, and is available on Columbia House, commercial video sellers, and more.

Let me hear what you think about this. Do you think Cosby is being played to death and beyond?

Default YES!

Hi Rob,

We must do another trader when I have time. I only really trade on weekends now. Anyways, I totally agree with your answer. I think NAN should have waited to cash in on the show. In my area I get the show at these times:

UPN 44 weekdays @ 9am and 10am
WGN weekdays @ 4:30pm
TBS weedays @ 6pm
Nick weekinites @ 9and 9:30pm

I wounder how long the thrill will go on.

If you think that's a lot, here in Philly, it's definately OVERPLAYED!!

In addition to it's cable run on:

Nick At Nite at 9pm and 9:30pm and midnight and 1am

TBS at 6pm

WGN at 4pm and 4:30pm

But here in Philly it's on:

WTXF FOX 29 1pm and 1:30pm

WFMZ Ind. 69 7:30pm and 9:30pm

WWAC Ind. 53 8pm and 8:30pm

So that's 11 different episodes on 6 different channels that are on in Philly on a daily basis.

Beat that!

Aren't the IND channels in Philly showing Cosby, that is the 1996 sitcom.

Nope. The only channel that airs Cosby is WPSG UPN 57.

I too think that it's being overplayed. WGN, TBS, my local Wisconsin channels and now N&N. I don't see this as being a terrible thing. I just think that it isn't quite fair to those shows, like The Facts of Life and other 80's shows that N&N has passed up.

One thing that I was disappointed with was the fact that the same version of the episodes that are seen in syndication are the same versions that N&N is airing. Don't get me wrong, having it added to N&N has made that network come one step closer to improving itself. However, it has a long way to go. Like, adding more shows to it's lineup, cutting back on Cheers, stop the false advertising (the commercial that states that Cosby Show, Cheers, All in the Family and Family Ties are back in prime time, when only Cosby and Cheers are the only ones back in prime time) and beginning and ending shows in the proper timeslots.

The station out here PAX airs "Cosby (1996-2000)" twice daily from 5-6 pm. But no local stations air "The Cosby Show (1984-1992)" anymore where I live. It's only on TBS at 3pm and nick at nite at 9pm.

I live in NJ, same thing! PAX NY airs Cosby (1996-2000) from 5-6pm. No locals air Cosby Show anymore. TBS airs it at 6pm and Nick at Nite 9-10 and 12-1am.

I like it EXACTLY how much it's being played right now....

Of course, here, it only gets the TBS, WGN, and N@N airings.

I still wish someone would give SOME time to FOL though

It's a great show and I love it, but yes, it's being over-played.

Well, I guess you can say it's being overplayed as much as Cheers is. The least N@N can do is show different eps, if they're going to show it all the time.
