The BBC is Reviving "Teletubbies"!
Eh-oh! The BBC is Bringing the "Teletubbies" Back
June 13, 2014 by Tim Surette Time to bust that red handbag out of the closet and tape an antenna onto your head. Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa, and Po, who collectively make up The Teletubbies, are returning to television. The BBC is reviving "Teletubbies", the colorful and somewhat psychedelic children's television series aimed at pre-schoolers, BBC.com reports. "Teletubbies" originally ran for 365 episodes from 1997 to 2001 in the United Kingdom and became an international phenomenon not just with kids, but with adults who found themselves in an elevated state of mind and needed to be entertained with bright lights and baby babble. The new series will air on CBeebies, the BBC branded network aimed at children's programming, with 60 episodes ordered. The updated version will also be enhanced by computer graphics to give it a more contemporary look. As long as they don't leave out that freaky baby face in the sun. "I think that now is the right time to create new episodes of this much-loved, iconic show for the current CBeebies audience," said CBeebies head Kay Benbow. Currently, there are no plans to bring the new series to the United States. http://www.tvguide.com/News/Teletubb...C-1083027.aspx |
