And you can light either end--Lucy and the Cigarette Wars
While most everyone knows that Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz not only advertised Philip Morris cigarettes from 1951 to 1955, but smoked them in many an episode, Lucy may have loved Chesterfields more.
In 1933, as model Diane Belmont, Lucy began appearing on billboards all over New York City as the Chesterfield cigarette poster girl. And at least one magazine ad in the 1940's showed our favorite redhead smiling and holding a lighted Chesterfield, proclaiming "Chesterfield is milder. Much milder. It's MY cigarette."
