Poor list. Not having "All In The Family" instantly disqualifies it. For that matter where are "The Goldbergs" (fifties version), "Car 54", "That Girl", "Odd Couple", "Barney Miller", "Night Court" and others? Those shows could have been only set in NYC. "Friends" would have been exactly the same if it was in LA or another big city.

you had to have AITF if the Jeffersons was on the list because there would have been no Jeffersons if it wasn't for all in the family |

Where did The Post get this so called top 10 list? Who did they survey for it, if anyone. This may just be the writer's opinion of what the top 10 should be.
I never have much faith in The Post anyways ; it's a half a rung above the National Inquirer. It's hard to take any top ten list like this seriously, when it omits one of the GREATEST SHOWS ever. (IMO anyways.) |

I think a lot of people don't traditionally think of All in the Family as a NYC-set sitcom, for whatever reason. I guess because none of the action is really set in Manhattan, which is what people traditionally think of as "NYC".
Then again, The Cosby Show is on the list so who knows? |

It should have been longer. Maybe 25.

I would have put 'Mad About You'.
It's the most 'newyork-ese' of all. |

I would have put RHODA on there for sure.
These lists tend to be written by people who grew up watching TV in the Seinfeld/Friends/SATC era and don't really have a deeper appreciation for much beyond that, Lucy and The Honeymooners being the exception. |
