Found this on the Internet and thought that this is a beautiful shot of Tina Louise. It's from Season 3 Episode 21 w/ Don Rickles.

She looks very attractive. Is this the part where the Don Rickles character steals her earrings?

Her hair styles look more modern in that last season and it seems like she spent even more time trying to look her absolute best every scene she could. She did look better than ever. And since the show was a fantasy, it did help the show. Everyone and everything looks too blah in the first season, and it hurts the show.

Tina looks beautiful in this photo but I still voted for Mary Ann.

Yeah I think Ginger looked best in season 3 with her bangs down.

Ginger does look beautiful in this picture, but then, I don't remember seeing too many pics or scenes where she didn't look beautiful! To me, Mary Ann doesn't even come close to her as far as beauty! |

I agree with everyone who thinks Ginger's hair looked beautiful in season 3.
She may have had a reputation as being a diva on set but these days that attitude would be applauded. I for one think Tina did a great job of playing Ginger even though she didn't think much of GI at the time. It absolutely does not show on screen. |

Prof Gal, you and I are totally on the same page regarding Tina and Ginger. People always latch on to her dislike of Gilligan's Island and how she could be difficult on set. But it sounds to me like Bob could be difficult too, when he wanted to be. He's my favourite one out of GI, but I can imagine him and Tina having some of their arguments because they were both professionals. And I don't know about you, but I bet some of these tiffs were more like 'the Beatles vs The Stones', hyped up by the media for attention. Cats and dogs sometimes get along and sometimes they don't.
![]() I'm a great lover of fanfiction (as opposed to just being a great lover, whomp whomp). One of my greatest bugbears is stories that bash Ginger, portray her as a 'tart', 'strumpet' and even sometimes a ... whisper it... w- h- o- r- e. Which she most definitely is NOT. Ginger uses her assets when she needs to, because she's been Hollywood trained. She quite often fails, despite her voluptuous charms, which is where the comedy comes in. Her reactions to failing are priceless. She rolls her eyes, or breaks the fourth wall, or just gets up and walks away. but it NEVER dents her faith in herself. She's back being sexy and sassy in the very next episode. This is what some fanfic writers don't understand. Ginger is not a tramp. She's a seductive, Hollywood siren. She looks in the mirror all the time because, as an actress, her image is important. She's not going to get a job if she looks like something that fell out of a dumpster. she stays looking good because she's optimistic about being rescued. and also because, dammit, she's a cool and sophisticated lady. I write fanfic myself on ff.net under the names Teobi and ForeverLulu, if you're interested. I don't bash Ginger. I love all the castaways and try to write them as I see them on the screen. I try to keep my own opinions OUT of my writing. I enjoy it and I like trying to make people laugh. (Whether I succeed or not is another matter!) There are more good writers than not, it's just the ones that have a downer on Ginger that I don't like. Tina and Ginger are awesome. That's official by the way. (I said so.)

Teebs, Yes, it does seem like we both see Tina and Ginger in the same light. I've never thought of Ginger as a tramp. She was a flirt, for sure, but as you know, when Duke came on to her, she didn't like it at all. Same goes for when the Skipper lost his memory and was kissing on her & chasing her; again, she did not like it one bit. I honestly thought she was one of the best actors on the show. Her character seemed to have the most depth to me. I saw a very sweet side to Ginger's character on the show, and a willingness to help the others. As far as getting along with her cast members, I've read in a few articles that Tina and Dawn did not get along at all, and that some of it stemmed from jealousy...on whose part, I'm not sure! Also read that Tina was liked by Alan Hale, Hr. & Jim Backus. According to the article I read, she was seen at several of Jim Backus' Christmas parties. So who really knows what went on during that show. Everyone seems to have a different version. For some reason, I always wanted the Professor & Ginger to be a couple on the show. (They just looked so beautiful together! lol) Per my name on here, I always loved the Professor, and I just thought The Prof & Ginger seemed to have that certain chemistry in their scenes together. I think it takes a little bit of the fun for me out of the series and FanFiction, though, when I hear that Dawn & Russell were the ones that actually had an attraction to each other in real life! I really didn't want to know that about them, and in all honesty, it takes a little bit away from the show when I watch it knowing that. I just don't seem to enjoy it as much as I did before, knowing that these two were probably canoodling behind the scenes! lol And it really takes away from the storyline between the Prof & Ginger. I enjoyed it so much more before I knew this about Dawn & Russell! I will still continue to read the FanFiction stories, though. I have to keep in mind that the Pinger stories is the way Sherwood wanted it to be! I do enjoy them so much, and I will definitely be checking out some of your stories Teebs! |

There will always be flirtations in any group of men and women who work closely together. I like to think they kept it at that. I think Tina and Jim knew each other from before GI. Alan would have gotten along with anyone, he was just such a nice guy. Apparently Dawn received the most mail out of all the cast members, but I can't see Tina being jealous. Meanwhile, Natalie would have just sat back and enjoyed all the shenanigans ![]() Anyway, Gilligan's Island is a magical show and whatever the cast may or may not have done behind the scenes, none of it shows on screen. They'll always be our seven favourite castaways, and while it's fun to pretend we know what went on, we really only know what we can glean from interviews, books and drama documentaries like Surviving Gilligan's Island. |

But Russell talked about the attraction too! In an interview with the Toronto Sun I think it was, he said he had a special friendship with Dawn, and if they had both not been married, it could have become a lot more special. So he was saying that kind of stuff too. He also said in an interview once when asked the question "what was the deal with you and Dawn Wells," and his response was "never kiss and tell." Sounds like there was canoodling to me! lol I'm honestly laughing out loud as I write this. Yeah, we will never know for sure, and I don't want to believe either of them ever cheated, but from what I see on the series, I think there was definitely an attraction there. A couple of examples...The two of them wrapped in a blanket and holding on to each other tightly during the bad storm in Season 1, the second episode I think it was; and the hug Russell gives Dawn during the episode where they are decorating a Christmas tree and get some news they may be rescued. That's not your ordinary hug in any way! If you look closely, even Bob Denver seems to be a little embarrassed by it! Just sayin'! |

As far as extramarital affairs, remember that these were Hollywood people, a group that historically married and divorced multiple times -- it's almost astonishing to see how many actors had 3, 4, 5, or more spouses...! Divorce was far more common than with the general public, so you can bet that extramarital activity likewise was in full gear. |
