Default Live studio audience

Do you think there is a reason that alot of sitcoms got rid of the studio audience since the 2000's? Is it cheaper to do a show without the audience and the single camera mode? Just wondering...

It's actually cheaper to film multi-camera comedies. Check out this article: http://www.tv.com/news/tvcom-throwdo...omedies-27285/

There are those that work an audience and others that don't need it and I like them both.

Shows with the audience like Hot in Cleveland and shows without them like Modern Family and animated shows like The Simpsons are examples.

Are there any reasons why the multi-camera style of filming is cheaper than the single-camera style of filming?

"Stay Safe"? More like "Stay Sad".

I watched the other night, Jennifer Falls which I was told is Single camera. I would think it would be harder for a single camera for it is a stop and start set up. Aren't multi camera shows usually with a studio audience so it kinda like a play you are seeing. . I love Lucy, All in the Family, Hot in Cleveland to name a few. But as for cost, I suppose 3-4 camera operators cost more than one. I would love to see a show being filmed.
