Does anyone suspect that when some segments become very old, and the loved ones who contacted the UM producers in the late 1980s have died, younger loved ones tell the Lifetime network to stop repeating those segments?
I suspect that is the case with the Amy Billig disappearance. Her mother Susan handled all the media attention going back to the 1970s, before UM existed. She did what she could using paper in the 1970s: posting notices on telephone polls, mailing paper letters to newspaper reporters and politicians, etc. The UM segment for which Susan did sound bite interviews got repeated on the Lifetime network many times, but I have not seen it since her death in June 2005. Maybe her son Josh, Amy's brother, told Lifetime officials that the reruns are too painful and the case can never be solved, anyway. Members of the biker gang that allegedly abducted Amy in 1974 are all gone. I started another thread about the segment on mass murderer William Bradford Bishop Jr., AKA Brad Bishop, because he has no living relatives who could tell Lifetime to drop the segment. He murdered everyone he had. I suspect Lifetime will repeat the Bishop segment, and I wish I knew when. |
