Be sure to tune into the Travel Channel on April 7th at 9pm, Ken Kercheval, “Cliff Barnes” from Dallas, goes to the palatial Southfork Ranch that sits on 340 acres, just north of Dallas. Each year, 400,000 tourists make a pilgrimage to the site of the “Ewing” Mansion, which is kept authentic down to the awnings and swimming pool, the site of some classic “cat” fights. The mansion also boasts a museum with famous artifacts from the show including the gun that shot J.R., Lucy’s wedding dress and saddles belonging to Pam, Bobby, J.R. and Sue Ellen.
The Dukes of Hazzard stars Ben Jones, “Cooter,” and James Best, “Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane,” hot-rod their way to Sperryville, the town that boasts a Cooter museum. Jones also visits the small town of Covington where the first five episodes of the series were filmed.
Christopher Knight, “Peter” from The Brady Bunch, takes viewers on a nostalgic drive to see the houses The Nelsons, Beverly Hills 90210, and the Melrose Place apartment building. He also tours some of the more recognizable sites seen in Baywatch, Dragnet, Batman, Rockford Files, and more. Viewers will also see the famous cottage from Fantasy Island located in the Los Angeles Arboretum.
Mary McDonough, “Erin” from The Waltons travels back to Schuyler, VA. - a town with no traffic lights, one restaurant, and four churches - where series creator Earl Hamner, Jr. grew up. Hamner’s home and many other sites provided his inspiration for the show.
Noel Neill, “Lois Lane” from The Adventures of Superman, flies to the “Superman Capitol of the World”- Metropolis, IL. Although the TV series was never filmed there, each year the city celebrates the “Man of Steel” with a festival where visitors can join a Superman look-alike contest, read the local paper called The Daily Planet, or visit an impressive Superman museum with over 75,000 items including George Reeve’s original costume and a lunchbox that is now worth $7,000.
For a little Western flavor, TV ROAD TRIP saddles up and heads to the Ponderosa Ranch where the Cartwright home in Bonanza attracts more than 250,000 visitors every year. The Ponderosa Ranch was a working ranch owned by the Anderson family who reminisce about the crazy antics of Bonanza cast members such as Michael Landon and Lorne Greene.
Adam West who played “Batman” divulges the secret location of the Bat Cave (the exterior was shot right under the Hollywood sign) and explains that he was uncomfortable at first about donning the Batman costume with tights in front of his co-stars. Nancy Greene, widow of Lorne Greene who played family patriarch Ben Cartwright on Bonanza, reveals that her husband initially found the character of Ben to be too harsh, so he softened the role, modeling it after his own father. And, Noel Neill “Lois Lane” and Jack Larson “Jimmy Olson” from The Adventures of Superman tell of the production tricks used to make Superman fly in an era before special effects technology was developed.

I watched that show and found it to be two hours worth of wonderful entertainment! I love all of those old shows, especially Dallas. That's the greatest soap opera ever!
