Are we supposed to rank the 16 sitcoms on your list or can we choose our own 16?

Though I love classic TV, I'm not exactly a sitcom maven, so 16 may be stretching things for me, but I'll give it a shot:

1.) The Addams Family (easily the best/funniest sitcom of the decade, to me)
2.) Dragnet (not normally considered a sitcom, but it usually works like one for me, apart from a couple of serious murder cases and the like)
3.) Lost in Space (ditto, when it essentially became the "Dr. Smith & Robot" show)
4.) Car 54, Where Are You?
5.) I'm Dickens, He's Fenster
6.) Bewitched (the early seasons)
7.) I Dream of Jeannie
8.) My Favorite Martian
9.) The Munsters
10.) The Monkees
11.) Get Smart
12.) Hogan's Heroes
13.) The Beverly Hillbillies
14.) Green Acres
15.) My Three Sons
16.) Gilligan's Island

The Andy Griffith Show and The Dick Van Dyke Show are both noticeably absent from my list. I watched them in reruns when I was a little kid (in the 1970s)... or at least they were on when I was in the room back then... but my memories of specific episodes are dim at best, and I never really followed them in the years since then (even though they're always on), so how much the have (or could) make me laugh is still an open question.

I'm starting to watch Dick Van Dyke on Netflix, but haven't made it past the initial 13 episodes yet (where they were apparently written for Carl Reiner in mind, rather than Van Dyke), so I can't really judge it fairly at this point. Van Dyke has his work cut out for him, though; while I find him to be likeable and talented, he's yet to make me actually laugh. He tries a little too hard at it, I think (lots of pulling faces and mugging for the camera), and is also a bit mild in his comedy for my tastes. We'll see how it goes as I delve deeper into the show's run.

I'm going to include 50s sitcoms with the 60s since there aren't that many of them.

1. Family Affair
2. I Love Lucy
3. Bewitched
4. I Dream of Jeannie
5. The Patty Duke Show
6. The Andy Griffith Show
7. Ozzie & Harriet
8. Petticoat Junction
9. The Dick Van Dyke Show
10. Gomer Pyle, USMC
11. Bachelor Father
12. Leave it to Beaver
13. The Munsters
14. The Addams Family
15. The Jack Benny Program
16. Hazel

This was the golden age of sitcoms.

These are mine ... I added a few honorable mentions

1. Green Acres
2. Dick van Dyke Show
3. Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C.
4. Hogan's Heroes
5. Andy Griffith Show
6. Get Smart
7. My Three Sons
8. F-Troop
9. My Favorite Martian
10. The Addams Family
11. The Munsters
12. I Dream of Jeannie
13. Bewitched
14. Gidget
15. Hazel
16. Please Don't Eat the Dasies
17. That Girl
18. Family Affair
19. Beverly Hillbillies
20. Petticoat Junction
21. Donna Reed Show
22. Dennis the Menace

I like the early episodes of the Donna Reed Show... I'd consider that to be more of a 50s show than a 60s show, even though it ran longer in the 60s than it did in the 50s.
