Ritter Ruler of ABC's 'Rules' Friday March 8 5:03 AM ET John Ritter has agreed to "8 Simple Rules," for ABC, as the networks nabbed more top talent for their pilots Thursday. Here's the latest in pilot casting: Ritter has joined the tentatively titled comedy pilot "8 Simple Rules," based on W. Bruce Cameron's book "8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter." In the project, written by Tracy Gamble, Ritter will play a protective dad to three children, two teen daughters (Kaley Cuoco and Amy Davidson) and one son (Martin Spanjers). The role of the mother is not yet cast. From the Hollywood Reporter: LOS ANGELES (The Hollywood Reporter) --- Emmy-winning actor John Ritter has signed as the lead in the ABC/Touchstone TV comedy pilot "8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter," based on W. Bruce Cameron's book of the same name. The ABC pilot "Rules" centers on a protective dad (Ritter) who deals with his teenage daughters. Tracy Gamble wrote the script and will executive produce with Flody Suarez and Tom Shadyac. Gil Junger is directing. Ritter won an Emmy and a Golden Globe for his role in the ABC comedy series "Three's Company." He also was nominated for both awards for his lead role in ABC's "Hooperman" and garnered an Emmy nom for his guest-starring role on Fox's "Ally McBeal." Ritter, who recently completed a nine-month stint on Broadway in Neil Simon's "The Dinner Party," is repped by ICM, Brillstein-Grey and attorney Bob Myman. |

"John Ritter's wife Amy Yasbeck has nabbed the lead in the WB's "Houseblend."
Yasbeck, Sean Faris and Greg Cipes have been cast in Paramount's "Houseblend," a WB pilot exploring what happens when two families live together under one roof. Yasbeck will play the lead, with Faris as her son and Cipes as a family friend. |

I as well will be looking for when it comes out. I am happy to hear that John Ritter decided to be in another sitcom. I hope the sitcom turns into a major hit like the way Three's Company did except even better.

It be nice if 8 Simple Rules had the same sort of success for John
Ritter that Step By Step had for Suzanne Somers.
