I always thought it was a shame the character was dropped. John Amos is a finer actor and was great on the MTM show.
What a shame his fine acting wasn't able to overcome the crappy writing and cliched plots of Good Times. |

He came back in Season 7, I think, and he was a big TV star with his own show. And Ted practically begged to be his cohost.
