How strict do you see Archie and Edith being? Do you think they believed in physical punishment? How far do you think they let Gloria go before they punished her?

No, she was an only child. She did deserve a slap across the face for calling Edith a nothing. Gloria was on the rag, and snapped at Archie and Mike. She then lets Edith have it in the kitchen.

Yes, I think so. Most parents from Archie and Edith's generation spanked their kids. I think even Edith would have supported it if Gloria had done something bad enough. I think both Archie and Edith probably gave Gloria an occasional, mild spanking. Neither would have been brutal. It would have been just enough to teach a lesson. For instance, I can see them spanking her if she had run into the street or something else dangerous. I think Gloria got spankings, but they were rare.

Likely so, there was one instance where Archie was ready to lay into Stephanie PHYSICALLY when she was refusing to go to Ca. if I remember right.

In the episode "Edith's Night Out", Archie does threaten to spank Gloria for twisting his ear. If you listen closely he says, "I'm going to spank your behind!".
