Default The ongoing saga involving Casey Kasem (Bobby Fuller segment)

I've been following this news story for quite a while and it's pretty sad.

Casey Kasem, who was interviewed in the Bobby Fuller segment, and is of course a radio legend, being the original host to the countdown shows from the 70's up to the 2000's, was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia (frequently mixed-up with Parkinson's Disease) some time ago. His wife Jean, an actress, who has appeared on Cheers among other roles, has prevented Casey's children from seeing him and was even believed to have left the country with Casey without the children's knowledge (one of his daughters has been appointed temporary caretaker of him.)

Well Casey was found in WA yesterday, but the ongoing drama between Jean and Casey's children might continue. It's tough to make heads or tails of it, but Jean sounds like a nutcase.

Money does funny things to people. I think jean has a temporary conservatory over the estate, not sure how long that is going to last. If you think this is bad you should read up on the estate of Jimi Hendricks.

Bobby Fuller, as in The Bobby Fuller Four and 'I Fought the Law' Bobby Fuller?

I don't think I ever saw that segment. Now I need to find it.

It's a good one. I've probably read more than most about rock music but I didn't know about the mystery surrounding his death.

It's his daughter Kerri who has the temporary conservatory.

The Bobby Fuller segment originally aired on UM in 1996.

As long as this thread is about Casey Kasem, whose UM interview I remember, he worked with Robert Stack at least once that I know of: They lent their respective voice in the Transformers animated movie. Kasem was the voice of Cliffjumper in that film, as well as the '80s cartoon; Stack, of course, was the voice of Ultra Magnus (later voiced by Jack Angel in the same cartoon).

This ordeal kind of reminds me of the Loretta Meyers segment.

I saw the news yesterday where they showed the clip of Jean throwing the beef at Kerri Kasem. Like you wiseman, I don't know the specifics but so far, it's been easy to side with the kids. Jean is doing herself no favors, kidnapping the guy, disappearing for a week and now yesterday's embarrassing public display.

moving up 40 notches all the way up to Heaven...

Sad news, and on Father's Day nonetheless. Casey died yesterday at age 82. He had been removed from life support earlier in the week.

Casey brought such a high level of professionalism to his job (he started the countdown shows in 1970) that I can't stand to listen to anyone else but him host it. I will miss this kind, generous, funny and talented man.

this story keeps getting weirder and weirder. Casey is missing again, this time after death. Still more fighting between Jean and the kids.

P.S. Jean Kasem is an AMAZON WOMAN!!

That's crazy. And to top it off, I live maybe 5 minutes (10 at the outside) from that funeral home. I knew about him missing and that he had died, but I didn't know it was all that close to home. Crazy.

This isn't exactly surprising. You had to know as soon as Jean got possession of the body that she would do something to stick it to Casey's kids. She'll probably have him buried in some secret grave and never tell his kids where it is.

The woman is a psycho nut-job.

It's sad that this man who in life brought joy and entertainment to so many is not being allowed to rest in peace.

Uh. Jean Kasem is referring to her step-children as "terrorists". Casey's daughter Kerri had a court order preventing Casey's body from being removed out of California, but Jean had it moved before the court order could be enforced. In better news, Kerri is trying to pass legislation in California to give children the right to visit their aging or incapacitated parents.

http://www.cnn.com/2014/07/22/showbi...ains-unburied/

Another article I read said that both Jean and Casey's children plan to have an autopsy performed on Casey's body.

Here's another article that states Jean moved Casey's body for the sole purpose of remaining in control of it. (I read in anothe article that Casey had no known ties to Montreal that anyone knows about.) Kerri was given a conservatorship over Casey, which Jean fought in court. Apparently, Jean and the kids started fighting right after her marriage to Casey in 1980, and she accuses them of aiding his death.
