First of all, I still disagree with the ordering of sitcoms in the forums here. I mean, I get the logic of going by the decade that a show ran the most in or was most popular in, etc. but I generally like to look at when the show actually started. And going by that token, a number of these shows I consider to be 1980s shows- Full House (1987-1995), Married...with Children (1987-1997), Roseanne (1988-1997), Empty Nest (1988-1995), The Wonder Years (1988-1993), and Family Matters (1989-1998).
The other series all started their runs in the 1990s and ended either in the
'90s or 2000s.
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (1990-1996), Home Improvement (1991-1999), Boy Meets World (1993-2000), and Friends (1994-2004).
Anyway, I know people disagree on that and that's fine- it's not a big thing, just a minor quibble.
But that aside, here's the order of shows for my liking:

Full House
Family Matters
Home Improvement
The Wonder Years
Boy Meets World
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
Empty Nest
Friends
Married...With Children
Roseanne

(Basically, the first six in that list- I love ALL those shows. The last 4...I've only seen bits of Empty Nest here and there- it seems like a nice enough show but I'm not really big into it or anything. Friends can be a nice show, but it does get vulgar at times and it's not really a big favorite or anything- I do love the theme song though! And I've seen some of Married...With Children and Roseanne and both can have their funny moments- but both are also crude and crass and vulgar many times and I don't care for those.

I was always one to think whichever decade the show aired the most episodes in, is the decade that defined the show.

Full House, Family Matters, Married...With Chilern, and Roseanne are without a doubt 1990's shows. Not only were most episodes produced then, all these series peaked during those years. I don't know much about Empty Nest, but it is a '90s show. I think of The Wonder Years as an '80s show.

Okay- that's cool. I'm just saying it can be argued that they're both '80s shows and '90s shows. I still think of Full House as a 1980s show because I remember watching it from the start and it was certainly a big part of my TV viewing habits in the late '80s.
But it doesn't really matter- that's a side issue.
And there are others that would be much trickier anyway- how do you label Gunsmoke and Bonanza? '50s show? '60s show? '70s show? And then if you took on Sesame Street- that could be a '60s show, '70s show, '80s show, '90s show, 2000s show and 2010s show- it's still running!
So anyway- it doesn't really matter in the end. I didn't mean to derail from the main thread- just a side note.
