TV Pics Released from "Once Upon a Time's" 'Frozen' Storyline

A Frozen / "Once Upon a Time" Crossover is Definitely Happening
The Huffington Post | by Jessica Toomer
5/12/14

Things are about to turn icy in Storybrooke.

Last night's season finale had all the classic ingredients fans have come to love -- and love to hate -- about the show. There was time traveling, talk of portals, black magic, coronations, not-so-happy endings and a Back to the Future reference.

All in all, it was a jam-packed two hour ordeal, but it's the final minute that left fans freaking out for what's to come next season. One word: "Frozen."

Now that the wicked witch is dead (or at least transformed into a pile of fairy dust) the show needs a new villain and who better to fill the role than the reigning ice queen herself, Elsa from Arendelle.

The Disney film that keeps breaking box office records and has given us magical mashups and beautiful ballads that we like to secretly sing in the shower is coming to the small screen when "OUAT" returns next fall.

After show creators Eddie Kitsis and Adam Horowitz revealed their obsession with the family friendly movie and admitted they were courting the possibility of a crossover, they made it official last night before the credits rolled.

The show's season finale saw Emma finally discover there's no place like home, but not before taking a powerful dark-magic-infused object with her when she travelled through time. Of course, nothing is without consequence and, at the end of the episode, we saw the blue liquid spew from Emma's ill-gotten trinket and eventually transform into, who else, Queen Elsa.

At this point, we aren't sure if the ice queen will be good or evil -- or a mixture of both -- but we do have a few ideas on who should play her. While Idina Menzel would be the obvious choice, she's currently working hard on Broadway. So, maybe the other Frozen princess would be willing to fill her Disney shoes once more?

When asked if she'd be interested in guest starring on the ABC drama, Kristen Bell said she'd be more than happy to visit Storybrooke.

"That would be unbelievable," Bell told E! News "I love that character of Anna so much. She's really close to my heart."

"Once Upon a Time" Scoop: Which Other Frozen Characters are Being Cast?
by Matt Webb Mitovich
June 7, 2014

"Once Upon a Time" is planning a big chill for Season 4, with the introduction of not just Queen Elsa but other Frozen characters as well.

TVLine has learned that casting is now underway for the aforementioned conflicted ice queen — who was glimpsed (and played by a stand-in) at the close of Season 3 — as well as her sister Anna and ice merchant Kristoff.

Elsa will appear in approximately nine episodes, the others a bit less. (Hey, maybe Kristoff runs Henry’s favorite ice cream shoppe?)

And before you ask:

As previously reported by TVLine, the show bosses laughed and offered a “No comment” on the prospect of a CGI Olaf showing up.

"Once Upon a Time" Casts Two Frozen Characters
July 1, 2014
by Liz Raftery

It's getting cold on "Once Upon a Time".

The show has cast two characters from the mega-hit Frozen for Season 4, TVGuide.com has confirmed.

Newcomer Elizabeth Lail will come on board as Anna, the younger sister of Queen Elsa, and Scott Michael Foster (Greek) will play Anna's boyfriend Kristoff.

There's no word yet on who will play Elsa.

Anna is a fearless, fun-loving optimist who relies on her resourcefulness to get out of sticky situations, and values her relationship with Elsa above anything else, according to TVLine, which first reported the news.

Kristoff is a gruff ice-cutter who's deeply devoted to Anna and Elsa. When their arc begins, he's slowly adjusting to life at the castle.

"Once Upon a Time" Casts "Fringe" Alum as Frozen's Elsa
July 3, 2014
by Natalie Abrams

"Once Upon a Time" has found its Elsa!

Georgina Haig, who played Peter and Olivia's daughter on "Fringe", has been tapped to play Frozen's Queen of Arendelle, TVGuide.com has learned.

During the season finale, an urn hidden away in Rumplestiltskin's (Robert Carlyle) vault in the past was transported to the future when Emma (Jennifer Morrison) and Hook (Colin O'Donoghue) returned from their time-traveling adventure.

Said urn contained Elsa, who spilled out seemingly ready for an icy duel.

But will she actually be the Season 4 villain?

"She was never a villain," executive producer Edward Kitsis told us after the finale.

Added executive producer Adam Horowitz: "The thing we loved so much about that movie, among a million other things, was that Elsa was misunderstood."

"Once Upon a Time" Adds Elizabeth Mitchell
July 8, 2014
by Liz Raftery

Elizabeth Mitchell is returning to TV. The "Revolution" and "Lost" alum has been cast on "Once Upon a Time" for Season 4, TVGuide.com has confirmed.

She'll play a role in the show's Frozen-inspired story line and may be playing a villain, according to Entertainment Weekly, which first reported the news.

Either way, she'll definitely have ties to Anna (Elizabeth Lail) and Elsa (Georgina Haig).

"Once Upon a Time" Season 4 Casts "Shameless" Star as Frozen's Hans; John Rhys-Davies to Voice Rock Troll
by Vlada Gelman
July 28 2014

"Once Upon a Time" has added a familiar face — and a very familiar voice — to its Season 4 riff on Frozen.

Tyler Jacob Moore (Shameless, GCB) has been cast as Anna’s onetime suitor, Hans, E! Online reports.

The recurring character — who will first appear in Episode 3 — is described as “a well-bred prince with a serious chip on his shoulder,” a young man who burns to be king. Refined and well-spoken on the outside, Hans has a mean streak a mile wide and will do anything to claim the power and respect he thinks he deserves.

Meanwhile, John Rhys-Davies (Indiana Jones and The Lord of the Rings films) will provide the voice of “grandpa” rock troll Pabbie, "Once" executive producer Adam Horowitz announced on Twitter on Monday.

Voiced by Ciarán Hinds (Game of Thrones) in the Frozen feature film, Pabbie was charged with “curing” a very young Anna when her big sis Elsa accidentally zapped her with icy magic.

In a short teaser shown at Comic-Con, the sibs meet at their parents’ gravestones, where Elsa reveals that she has a wedding “surprise” for Anna.
