Get Smart actually had quite a few other women who either saved the day, or were important to the resolution in some way, or even were just working in field that would have been unusual at the time (i.e., scientists, or good at martial arts)
Dear Diary: Davenport A Man Called Smart: We don't meet her, but the hotel doctor is a woman (which is how 99 knows that the man standing over Bettyoikskin is an impostor) Drs. Steel and Simon The slave who rescues Max and 99 in Sahara Agent 49 works in the CONTROL salon, (in "Two Tails") and that's kind of a traditional thing, but it was interesting that she was "of color" given the era. Dr. Canyon, who was not only a scientist, but who punched out a couple of KAOS agents and rescued Max Rosa LaCosta (who is determined to break that glass one way or another) Esperanza (although she doesn't fare so well )99's mother punching out Simon the Likeable And KAOS had some feisty women, although maybe that's not a good thing since it showed strong women being "bad" and meant that 99 had to fight with other women. |

Although it's not as obvious as today, even back then PC ruled. In many shows, Dad was always the bumbling fool while Mom saved the day while making Dad think he was the hero.
