Post Having Trouble Reading Books

I have 6 books checked out from the library and I've read around 80 to 90 pages of one with around 250 pages and the other 5 books I've barley read 10 or more pages of them without losing interest or having a hard time time concentrating on.

I already know that I'm a bigger picture person and not a detail-oriented person. The titles are what made me check out 5 out of the 6 books I have, and my friend recommended the other book to me.

Here are the books I have checked out atm.
- A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose - This is the one my friend recommended to me.
- Get Wise! Mastering Grammar Skills
- Get Wise! Mastering Reading Comprehension Skills
- Impossible to Please: How to Deal with Perfectionist Coworkers, Controlling Spouses, and Other Incredibly Critical People
- Handbook of Family Advice - This is the one I've read 80 to 90ish pages of.
- The Grammatically Correct Handbook

I wanted to finish reading them all but I don't think that's possible due to me having a hard time reading anything more than a few sentences or short paragraphs.

Does anyone else share this same problem?

Best wishes,
Chris Ferguson

Wow- that's a lot to take on. Well, I'm a big fan of reading so I do encourage you to try to read all that you can (discriminately, of course- as we all do to some degree- though sometimes it's good to challenge yourself with things you don't agree with too ). But if you're not getting into it, don't feel bad about putting the book down and trying another one. Happy Reading!

You have some unusual titles picked out and it's nice that you want to read them all. But if the book doesn't hook you in the first 10 to 15 pages then put it away and move on to another one. You can always come back to it & try reading it again. Some books are just not going to hold your interest and there's nothing wrong with that. There have been many books that I didn't finish for one reason or another.

Many times I have started reading a book and have put it aside or never finished it. A book has to grab my attention right away(the same goes with movies). So that's not an unusual thing. Try to read a subject that you're interested in.( like a hobby ) Good luck!

I'm going to end up returning these books to the library.

I have this problem where I tend to think too much about my ideas instead of following them.

I guess I should think about books like I do with movies; most movies have a hard time grabbing my attention and I'm assuming that most books I pick up will as well.

Best wishes,
Chris Ferguson
