Other names that I would add:
*Anybody on Friends (either before or after). Yes, I know that Cougar Town w/ Courteney Cox is still running, but even so, that show was cancelled by ABC before landing on TBS. And also, Courteney Cox was on Family Ties during its waning days.

*Raven-Symone (outside of That's So Raven). Many people think that The Cosby Show jumped the shark the moment her character, Olivia showed up. She was also on Hangin' With Mr. Cooper when it was revamped to a more family friendly sitcom following its first season (when Dawnn Lewis was on and it had a "black Three's Company vibe to it). She was also the catalyst to getting Jazz Raycole (the original Claire) removed from My Wife and Kids because of a teenage pregnancy storyline. And then there was her recent show on ABC Family that only lasted a season.

*Bumper Robinson, who w/ all due respect, could be considered the "black Ted McGinley" in that he's the guy that you call whenever it's around the time that your favorite sitcom (in this case, Amen, A Different World, Living Single, etc.) is about to wrap up.

*Any show featuring Julia Duffy as a regular cast member post-Newhart (e.g. Baby Talk along w/ fellow serial show killer Mary Page Keller,Designing Women, Social Studies, and Grace Under Fire).

*Any show that Heather Locklear has done outside of TJ Hooker, Dynasty, and Melrose Place.

*Any show that Christina Applegate as starred in post-Married...with Children.

*Any show that John Stamos has starred in post-Full House (e.g. Jack in Progress, ER during its waning years, and [i]Necessary Roughness during its last season).

*Robert Urich - I don't think any of the numerous shows that he had done (including Spencer for Hire) lasted beyond 100 episodes.

*Bonnie Hunt - No show including her talk show, has lasted beyond two seasons to the best of my knowledge.

*Ashley Johnson - None of the sitcoms that she has appeared in has lasted beyond two seasons. Also, she was of course, on Growing Pains as Chrissy Seaver during its waning days.

*Ray J. He was on Sinbad's sitcom, which only lasted a season. He was on Moesha w/ his sister Brandy around the time in which it jumped the shark, and he was on the final season of One on One.

There's a couple of names on the list that I disagree with.

#19 - George Clooney was also in "Roseanne" during its first season before leaving to star in ER. (The first of many bad decisions that Roseanne made during her show's run.) That certainly didn't hurt his career at all since it made him a star and launched him into a stellar movie career which is still going strong today.

#8 - Jon Cryer has failed in many sitcoms but then he hit it big as the co-star of "Two And A Half Men" and today remains the only reason why it is still on the air and the only reason why it would still be worth watching.


And as for Ray J: Well....you can call him Ray J, or you can call him R.J., or you can call him Johnny, or you can call him Junior, but you don't have to call him Johnson!! I'm sorry. I couldn't resist!

I woudn't consider David Spade to be a "serial show killer" since he had (after his stint on SNL) pretty decent runs on Just Shoot Me and Rules of Engagement.

Say what you will about According to Jim, but since that show lasted I believe 9 years, that wouldn't necessarily make Courtney Thorne Smith a "show killer". In other to qualify for such a title, either the show has to be short-lived, or said actor/actress' arrival coincided w/ the show jumping the shark. According to Jim was one of those shows that lasted a long time despite not a lot of people actually admitting to liking it in the first place.

Maybe I would agree w/ you in regards to the Seinfeld argument if it weren't for the fact that Julia-Louis Dreyfuss eventually had decent runs on The New Adventures of Old Christine and now Veep.

After her hit show “Dharma and Greg”, her TV husband Thomas Gibson has been in only one show–”Criminal Minds”–which has been a major hit that lasted for years and is still on.

Jenna has had one flop after another, though one did last an entire season.

I wouldn't list Ted as a serial show killer, he's more like the closer. His shows he closed lasted 4 seasons with him. Imo 4 seasons or more is not a show killer, he can't be held responsible for a show that is already worn out. He was also a good addition to Married with Children. A show killer is the kid they added who didn't work out and they promptly got rid of him.

You're right but whenever Ted gets hired you know a series is on its last legs.I wonder why he never got a series of his own. He sure payed his dues!

As enjoyable an actress as she is, Krysten Ritter has a knack for getting attached to shortlived series. The latest of these projects is the space-based comedy Mission Control, which NBC has decided to cancel ahead of the series’ premiere. Guys, the tagline was “Houston, they are a problem.” How could it possibly have failed?

It’s disheartening news, as Mission Control sounded like a nice offbeat series for NBC to win some laughs with. Executive produced by Adam McKay and Will Ferrell, with a script from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia writer David Hornsby, the workplace comedy was to be a heightened story in the vein of Anchorman. Ritter would have played a strong-willed woman in the 1960s that enters a battle of the sexes (and a race to the moon) with a macho astronaut played by Tommy Dewey (The Mindy Project). Also set to star were Leah Renee (Satisfaction) and a Better Off Ted reunion for actors Jonathan Slavin and Malcolm Barrett.

The question, said less sarcastically this time, is still how Mission Control got canned before it even had a chance to air. According to THR, a lot of it had to do with casting issues. Smallville’s Michael Rosenbaum was set to star, but he dropped out of the project soon after NBC picked it up for series. There were apparently problems finding people to fill in the rest of the supporting roles, so NBC decided to cut all ties and set it loose.

Mission Control was set to be a midseason addition to the NBC lineup, along with the final season of Parks and Rec and other new series. It seems there would still be enough time to bring this thing together before its proposed premiere date, but I have no idea what else may have been going on behind the scenes. Farrell and McKay’s production company Gary Sanchez is also behind NBC’s Bad Judge, a series that also saw its share of problems prior to debuting.

Ritter’s ABC comedy Don’t Trust the B in Apartment 23 had a rather rude awakening last year when ABC dumped it after a schedule switch, leaving the remaining episodes to stream online. She also starred in Veronica Mars, Gravity and a handful of pilots that never got picked up. Has there been a vast anti-Krysten Ritter conspiracy happening in TV land for the past decade?

Mission Control is hardly the first series to get prematurely cancelled this TV season. NBC was already guilty of it earlier this year when they pulled the plug on the Wizard of Ox-themed series Emerald City. Before that, Fox yanked the epic fantasy Hieroglyph from its schedule. All three of these shows sound more promising than some of the new shows that have started up. Some other network should look into Mission Control and see if it’s worth putting in their tractor beams.
