Cool My 8th Grade Musical

My 8th grade class is putting on a musical at the end of the month! We start Monday. Its gonna be sooo fun. It is set in the 50's. All the old music. We are going to have rehearsals every day Monday through Friday until the performance. And we are doing 2 night performances. Its another fund raiser for our 8th grade trip.
Some of the songs being used are:
At the Hop
Build me up, Buttercup
Dont know much about History
Charlie Brown
My Boyfriend's Back
Will you still love me tomorrow?
I will Survive
I've got you Babe
The Shoop Shoop Song (It's in his Kiss)
Sugar Shack
It's My Party
The Twist
Locomotion

And thats just to name a few!

We get to learn dances too! We have to learn the Locomotion, The Twist, The Jitterbug and some more. It gonna be SOOO FUN!

AWESOME!!! (the scary part is I know some of those songs!!) LOL!!! I taught a class on the 50's last year. It was part of my girted class, we had to find a bunch of info about the 50's and teach our class, and then test them and stuff.IT was AWFUL..lol..but that's just cause my class is weird! Anyway, I would kill to do a musical at our school!! WHOA!! THAT TOTALLY RULES!Break a leg, I know you'll be AWESOME!

First rehearsal was today. It was awesome. We got our dancing partners this morning and practiced the Jitterbug for about a half an hour this morning. That dance is SOO fun. We did the rest of practice after school. We make our entrance to the song At The Hop. We all come from different directions in the audience and meet up with our partners and start the Jitterbug. Then we go upstage and do the Jitterbug, Twist, Locomotion, or Swim. I'll tell ya about some more later.

Default THE PLAY WAS AWESOME!!!

The play was AWESOME. We are gettin a copy of the tape whenever the lady has time to make them. The audience loved us. We performed it 3 times so far. We performed/Will perform on..
Thursday, April 4, 2002 @ 7:00 pm - Public
Friday, April 5, 2002 @ 7:00 pm - Public
Monday, April 8, 2002 11:30 am - Grades 5-8
Tuesday, April 9, 2002 11:30 -Grades 9-12
And again for the public at a later date.
We had food and stuff for the audience so they could eat while they watched the play and we had tables and chairs set up for them. We also sold Hot Fudge Sundaes.

This has turned into quite a production. The TV station came and did a little news segment on it. The whole town loved it and is still talking about it. We were even asked by the town to perform it again on the 4th of July. We made A LOT of money on it. It was really fun.
