Cedric the Entertainer Leaving "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?"

Who wants to be the host of a "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire"? The syndicated daytime game show's current host, Cedric the Entertainer, is leaving after one season.

The actor-comedian, 50, announced he is exiting because of his busy schedule and the game show's Connecticut production location.

"With the many television and film projects that I have going on which shoot and promote in various parts of the country, a production-base in Connecticut would make it quite difficult to maneuver the many moving parts on my plate," he said in a statement.

"So, after much thought and some serious conversations with senior executives at the studio, I decided to let Disney-ABC know that, unfortunately, I'm not able to continue on as host. It has truly been a fantastic ride hosting Millionaire this year — a really great time! Thanks so much to all the fans, contestants, crew, and everyone involved for making it such a fun and gratifying experience."

"Cedric is a tremendous talent and we'd like to thank him for infusing his unique brand of humor and entertainment into the show," Disney-ABC Television said in a statement. "It has been an absolute pleasure working with him on Millionaire this year — we'll certainly miss him."

Cedric the Entertainer took over for longtime host Meredith Vieira, who had been with the show since it first entered syndication in 2002. Regis Philbin hosted the popular primetime version of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?".

Deadline.com reports that the network has already begun looking for replacements. One person reported to be involved is "Brooklyn Nine Nine" star Terry Crews.

I liked his suits. Felt he looked classy. Wonder who will take his place. I
didn't know the show is filmed in Connecticut. When did it leave New York? The show in the last few years I felt went a bit down hill. Contestants took too long to answer the questions. The show could be tighter run.

I remember when Cedric The Entertainer hosted Who Wants To Be A Millionaire it was the reason I regained interest in Millionaire and I used to alternate between Let's Make A Deal and Millionaire when I would watch it. But it wasn't until I saw Disney's Planes that I grew to love Cedric The Entertainer when he provided the voice of the character Leadbottom and when Cedric quit Millionaire I was so surprised that he chose to leave Millionaire because he seemed to be talented at Millionaire. But when Terry Crews started hosting Who Wants To Be A Millionaire I quit watching Millionaire for two years until Chris Harrison started hosting it and I just started watching it since April because GSN removed Catch 21 from it's lineup and I just LOVE Chris Harrison's hosting style of Millionaire and not to mention he's such a nice guy as well. I do hope that someday Chris Harrison will let Cedric The Entertainer guest host Millionaire sometime because he deserves to return to Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and Cedric and Chris would be a great team together
