HBO has given a green light to a new season of "Project Greenlight", the filmmaking competition series that first bowed in 2001.

Actors and Academy Award-winning screenwriters Ben Affleck and Matt Damon will executive-produce the new season, as they did for the first two cycles on HBO, alongside Adaptive Studios’ Marc Joubert, TJ Barrack, Perrin Chiles and Marshall Lewy, and Miramax’s Zanne Devine.






“Project Greenlight was ahead of its time,” Affleck says in a statement.

“Now that technology has caught up to the concept, we thought it was a perfect time to bring it back. A whole new generation of filmmakers has grown up sharing everything, and the next big director could be just an upload away.”





Spanning the entire film-making process, "Project Greenlight" offers a revealing look at the challenges facing a first-time director, kicking off with a digital competition and ultimately following the winner from pre-production and casting through principal photography and post-production.

The series’ third and most recent season aired on Bravo, in 2005.
