It had to be Larry. Gilbert and Richard always seemed to get Beaver in trouble and they never seemed to be sorry for what they did, especially Gilbert. There was always some one "upmanship" between Gilbert and Beaver from the first time Gilbert appeared.

Larry also always got Beaver in trouble, but you could see that he really didn't mean to. He was always sorry for what he did and I think Beaver knew that. Whitey and Beaver weren't as close as Larry and Beaver.

I think you're absolutely right about there always being some sort've competitiveness between Beaver & Gilbert. I think Gilbert, Richard & Whitey we're the younger troublemakers of the show. While Larry was also an instigator I don't think it was necessarily done maliciously. I think Larry craved for Beaver's approval. Geez Louise, now I sound like Dr. Joyce Brothers!!! lol!!

I believe most likely that Larry Mondello will win this poll by a landslide. If Im not mistaken doesnt one episode mention the two being blood brothers. Gilbert was always getting Beaver into some kind of mess and then leaving when the going got tough. Larry would get him into trouble but when it came down to it he would always admit his part in it.

Thanks Sami dg for responding to my poll!! I think you're absolutely right!! Whenever I think of Beaver I think of Larry. Just like when I think of Wally I think of Eddie. They just went together like eggs & bacon. It's only a shame that the character of Larry Mondello only lasted a few years.

No question that it was Larry. Even though he pulled some really bad routines on Beaver at times he showed remorse, and was somehow much more likeable than the the others. I would put Whitey second, he wasn't too bad as a friend. Gilbert and Richard were both real jerks, not friends at all IMO.

I voted for Whitey. The only time he really got Beaver into trouble was when he talked him into climbing into the giant soup bowl. Larry, Gilbert and Richard perfected the line, "Gee, Beaver, I think I hear my mother calling me."

Yes i would say Larry too. In one episode I saw a short time ago had Beaver and Larry being pals. I think it was the blood brothers episode where Beaver is in a group and Larry isn't. Larry makes up a group for Larry is left out. Even June commented that it was nice that Larry and Beaver were such good friends.

I would say Larry, too. The others were far more conniving, and tended to use or make a fool of Beaver for their own gain. But I think Wally was actually Beaver's best friend of all.....

Larry, who else? Gilbert was the creepiest kid Beaver knew. Whitey gets bonus points though for being around for all six seasons. Hey, you left out some friends of Beaver's! Like Harry! And how could you forget Alan? He got to call Don Drysdale with the Beav!
