"Late Night's" Seth Meyers to Host 66th Primetime Emmy Awards

Late-night host Seth Meyers is hitting prime time.

The former "Saturday Night Live" head writer and current host of "Late Night with Seth Meyers" has been chosen to host the upcoming 66th Primetime Emmy Awards this summer, NBC announced Thursday.

Paul Telegdy, NBC Entertainment's President of Late Night and Alternative Programming, said in a statement:

"Seth's expertise and ease in front of a live audience during his time at SNL, as well as his comedic brilliance both as a writer and in front of the camera on SNL and Late Night, makes him the perfect choice to host the Emmys,"

Bruce Rosenblum, Chairman and CEO of the Television Academy, added:

"Seth is such a talented performer and writer, and we know he will bring something unique to hosting the Primetime Emmy Awards," added Bruce Rosenblum, Chairman and CEO of the Television Academy.

The 66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will air its live three-hour telecast on Monday, Aug. 25 at 8/7c on NBC.
