Default "Flashbacks" that really weren't

Ever notice how sometimes flashback episodes are not really flashbacks. A couple of ex. Last night I was watching All in the Family and it was supposebly when Archie met Mike. The thing is even though Mike had a long beard and Gloria had different hairstyle, it was obvious that the episode was taped during season 3 as AITF was in the 3rd season.

On Happy Days, you supposebly flashback to when Richie met the Fonz. That was taped during season 5 of Happy Days. You could tell because they were in front of a studio audience, the house wasnt the way it was during the first 2 seasons and Arnold's looked the same as it did for all the other seasons except the first two.

Any other times, where there were flashbacks but they really weren't.

The Golden Girls and Family Ties were notorious for 'flashback" episodes. However, keep in mind, there is a clear difference between a "flashback" and a clip show. Both Family Ties and The Golden Girls had their share of Clip Shows as well. Clip Shows were actual scenes from previous episodes.

I saw that AITF episode too, and that wasn't when Archie met Mike; you must have not watched the entire episode and the 2nd part of it. It was after they met when Mike and Gloria got married.

THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW had a lot of flashback episodes that were like that too. For instance in the episode WHERE DID I COME FROM? which shows when Laura had Richie; Rob and Laura are living in a small apt.but in THAT'S MY BOY? when Laura comes home from the hospital; they're living in the New Rochelle house.

THE ODD COUPLE also had a lot of ones that, as the first poster said, weren't really flashbacks.

When it comes to flashbacks, it proves that they are better than Family Guy which does flashbacks but have nothing to do with the plot.

Yeah- I always liked the "Family Ties" flashback episodes like this. I thought it was something a bit different anyway- and all of those are some great episodes for the show.
Another episode that did this is "A Keaton Christmas Carol", where Alex (and the viewers) got a look at a Keaton Christmas past- as well as a look at a possible Christmas future for the Keatons.

On "The Suite Life on Deck", the episode "A London Carol" showed flashbacks of Christmas past in London's life, along with a look at a possible Christmas future for London.

On MacGyver, the episode "Blood Brothers" showed scenes from MacGyver's childhood, revealing the main reason for his refusal to use guns. In the episode "Phoenix Under Siege", a flashback showed MacGyver's father and grandmother dying in a car crash. In the episode "Partners", there is a flashback to MacGyver and Pete's first meeting- and Mac's first encounter with Murdoc. (Most of the episode takes place during the flashback.)

ALF has a few flashbacks like this too. On the episode "Help Me Rhonda", ALF recalls times with his friends on Melmac and we get to see a look at Rick, Skip and Rhonda in puppet form and a vision of Melmac in live action (the only time in the series this is done.)

Cannot believe no one here mentioned Frasier's "Crock Tales" episode.
