Default Obvious observation...

They do not make shows like this anymore. The garbage that is on TV today is just plain ridiculous. You can't watch most of what comes on prime time TV with your family anymore. Most of the trash on TV won't be played 50 yrs down the road. Most of what we consider classic TV is just plain ol good programming void of immoral filth. Society as we know is rotting away and the crap on TV is just a good barometer. TAGS will forever be a classic. It proves that clean humor can be enjoyed by all. It contained moral truths that just made you believe in the goodness of people. After a long day of work this is just a great show to unwind, and to forget about the grind of everyday life. My wish is that we as a country could get back to the simpleness of these types of shows.

When I was younger, I thought this was a nice little show, but never really watched more than a few episodes. The reason I even watched the few was because someone else was controlling the tv. I liked shows with a lot more fun like Hillbillies, genies, talking animals, etc. then just watch a story. I recently found this show again and I love how well written it is and realize how great all the actors were in their roles. It also makes me nostalgic for those simpler times you mentioned and when you could tell a story without crude humor.

I long for those days. There is crap on TV and I will not watch most of the sitcoms at all. I'm just glad I grew up when I did to see these great shows. I find myself watching a lot of TVland and ME TV just for the good memories. Sad.

America has lost her way. Alas, I'm still thankful for these timeless classics.

Default I love Andy Griffith(himself)..however

I like Andy and Opie, however must say I cannot stand any of the other characters.
The others are over the top, all obnoxious and oh so annoying.

And well, let's be realistic here-
Andy went out and dated many, many times and come on, Andy "did it".
He was not stupid, nor was he celibate. (though it always annoys me that the idiot played by Don Knotts attempted to sabatoge his every single date
he went on.

But, it's the writers that made the old shows memorable, and the fact that there was
one Lucy
one Desi
one George Burns
one Jack Benny
one Jackie Gleason
one Andy Griffith
one Fred MacMurray
one Eddie Albert

nowadays the laziness of the CEO's in corporate world want
a new copy of Lucy, George, Jack, Jackie, Fred, Andy etc and they copy older shows
(so much so that most new shows are direct copies of an older shows episodes.)

And kids don't like bxw.
Things were more sublime and pasturel in bxw

and do we really want in 2014, husbands like Ralph Kramden threatening to bodily punch their wife to the moon?
At least I don't. But the 39 are the funniest shows ever in TV history IMHO.

And, by the way, Andy Griffith was one of the greatest liberals around, like so many of the great stars of those past days.
And Andy was one of the early backers of the Affordable Care Act.(Obamacare).
He even made commercials supporting President Obama against all the lies and liars out there, in perhaps his last filmed works.
Andy had a heart for those less fortunate than himself, and he gave back.

However the 1950s were NOT a good time in America for 75% of the 2014 demographics. I would for one not want America to return to the 1950s.
Thanks, but no thanks.
Forward, not backwards.

What are these programs with immoral filth that you speak of, and what time do they come on?

I demand a return to those glorious and wonderful days of the 1950's and early 1960's when all was happy and wonderful. Yes they really were the GOOD old days, much better than the low-life morality foul mouthed spewing bums of today. The lowest common denominator is the only humor you see on TV today and it is truly sad and pathetic. And most of all it's insulting to those with just a modicum of intelligence and decency.
