Are you connecting it to an older analog TV and using a converter box or to a new TV?

Ok, I'll assume that the new TV isn't digital because you shouldn't need a converter box if it is.

I always wonder how those Clear Tv gadgets work. Are they any better quality than antennas of 35+years ago. We had a chimney top antenna for years 1955- 1980. Tv was alright for that is all we had. Then when Cable tv came in and did we see changes. Haven't gone back to antennas. Would be nice to save money but I do want a good picture and stations I get now.

If you have a flat screen; you don't need a converter box to convert digital back to analog.

I have only flat paper thin HDTV antenna. You can buy it at Micro Center for about $9 and you just screw the coaxial cable to your HDTV. You may have to move it around for certain channels but with mine; it is only the high band that I have to lay the antenna flat instead of up and down. If the network broadcast in 1080i you will get finally 1080i screen resolution; not the compressed 720p!

The premium paper thin antenna is called "Leaf". You can Google it or go to Amazon and do a search on "Leaf". It cost about $40 but there are many versions of it now so you can get the basic, advance with amp among others.

I found that the best for me is the flat paper thin HDTV antenna. It smaller then a sheet of 8" X11" paper maybe 2/3 the size. Base on the over the air network transmission; you can get 1080p for like the Super Bowl and Monday night football games. Most are reduce to 720p or 1080i.

The analog TVs only receives at between 340-480i! from the over the air networks. Very rare to find 480i - ever!

So in summary, you will get 4X the quality in screen resolution - HD quality. Now if you wait a few years from now; you can buy a cheap 4K screen resolution TV! That 4 X that of HD! That is 35mm digital movie screen resolution!
