Like many of you I watched Unsolved Mysteries from the '80 to the early '00s. Then I watched the updated version hosted by Dennis Farina for a few months. Anyway, it's been several years since I watched UM at all. Imagine my surprise when I visited Unsolved Mysteries a few minutes ago and read the note about Dennis Farina passing away in July 2013.

I also learned that UM is back on Lifetime weekdays at 8:00 AM EST. That's not a good time for me, but maybe I can watch once in a while. Are these the old shows, newer shows, or a mix? No disrespect to Dennis Farina, because I did enjoy him, but I prefer Robert Stack as the host. I think the biggest disappointment was that they didn't explore new mysteries when they changed hosts. (At least not when I was watching. I'm not sure if that changed later.) The old segments didn't need a facelift, IMO; only updates when necessary.

Does anyone know the future of the show? Is it over? Or perhaps it was over years ago? How many newer episodes were filmed? I think UM is such an important show. It's one that should always be on the air.

Production stopped in 2002, so it has been reruns ever since (except for new updates on old cases, which are added when necessary). Whether it will ever come back with new episodes remains to be seen - and a subject of debate. I do, however, agree with you that the show needs to be on television.

I've watched a couple of times a week for the last month. They're all the Dennis Farina episodes. Does someone else own the rights to Robert Stack's episodes? Is that why they're never shown? I'm afraid we might never see them on TV again.

The same company that made the original UM redid a bunch of the old stories with Farina. Those are the ones that are currently in syndication.

They don't show the Stack eps because the Farina ones were meant to replace them.
