The last 4 seasons has some of the best and funniest episodes! Season 6-A slice of life, The last drive in, Season7- Out of the fire, Grand Opening, Come back to the truck stop Natalie Green, 3,2,1. Season8-This is Only a Test, seven little Indians, The little Chill, Write and Wrong.Season9-The first time, Down and out in Malibu, Golden Oldies, so many more, to me the last 4 seasons are the best and funniest!

Agreed. The show really lightened up in the last few seasons. I liked the fact that they put a hold on the "very special episodes" and the girls seem to be more at ease with each other.

I liked the first four seasons the best. The later episodes seemed like lightweight fluff. Inconsequential. And dated, with crazy mullets, huge hair, shoulder pads, and other mid-'80s fashions.

You think the last 4 seasons are dated? look at the first 4 seasons like season 1, dated at its best! and the first 4 seasons too much special episodes! will Jo run away and get married?? will Tootie get over her obsession with Jermaine Jackson?? will Blair accept her sister becoming a nun? half those episodes in the first 4 I skip.

I love the Very Special Episodes. They were more than just entertaining: they let teens know that these situations happen to many people. It gave kids ideas of how to handle themselves if they were ever faced with suicide, prostitution, teen pregnancy, rape, peer pressure, illness, etc. These episodes helped millions of viewers.

Much more compelling television than "El DeBarge visits Over Our Heads".

That's why the show's actresses were nominated consecutively from 1981-1984 for Young Artist Awards, and why Charlotte Raye was nominated for an Emmy in 1982, and the only Emmy nomination the show received in 1987 was for... "Outstanding Achievement in Hairstyle".

Well that's great if you love the first 4 season but nothing will change my mind in that most of them are boring and dull. and trust me I am not the only Facts Of Life fan who finds the very special episodes boring and un watchable. and I don't believe those episodes helped millions of viewers, proof?? they did? and I wouldn't call them compelling either more like hard to watch. and as for the emmy's most shows that have been on for awhile get ignored by the emmy's as the years go by.

The first half of the show has been popular enough to be released on DVD. Unfortunately, the later seasons never have been... I think that speaks volumes about which (award-nominated) episodes are most popular with fans, and which episodes simply are not...

The show has not finished DVD because the rights are held up and their is music problems with season 6 and 7. and also seasons 1-3 didn't sell that well that's why Shout Factory picked up seasons 4 and 5, and even those 2 seasons didn't sell that good. I will enjoy seasons 6-9 and you enjoy 1-4 and we will both be happy.

Many other shows have had music issues and they've been resolved. In fact, nearly all of the most popular shows have now been released on DVD. Anything that the studios thought could make money has been released. Tellingly, the later seasons of FOL are not among them. The DVD releases began in 2006 and ended in 2010. The last batch of FOL DVDs was released four years ago. If new DVDs were going to be released, they would have been released by now. I'm afraid the interest in mullets, giant hair, and shoulder pads isn't big enough for a release.

I don't think the quality of the show in the last 4 seasons has anything to do with holding them from a DVD release. There was a lot of music in these later seasons (the episode Cruisin', El DeBarge, Stacy Q, some Aretha Franklin). Despite these setbacks, I think there is HUGE potential for these seasons to be released on DVD, especially given the fact that George Clooney became a recurring cast member. Put his face on the front cover and the sales will go through the roof! The nostalgia factor is really high as well! Some may argue the show took a downward spiral in these seasons. Critics will claim the writers got lazy writing in dream sequences, writing in new characters, and putting the 4 girls in novel and unreal situations... but don't most shows do that when they get past the 5 season mark? It kept the show interesting, if you ask me.

Also, those cable awards are completely irrelevant. This show may never have won an Emmy but there were two Academy Award winning actors in the last 4 seasons! Cloris Leachman and George Clooney. If they can advertise this on the front set of the DVD set, I think people may give it a try.

That cant be the case because if you think mullets, giant hair, and shoulder pads is why season 6-9 isn't released then how do you explain Dallas, and Dynasty? now that's some giant hair and shoulder pads!! It might take some time but I think seasons 6-9 will come out one day. The only downside of season 7 and 8 is George Clooney he couldn't act then and he cant act now, but I still love 6-9!!

Mill Creek is rereleasing seasons 1 and 2 on May 20. I just hope that they get the whole show complete with their sets unlike Sony and Shout.

As for me personally I like all the seasons. Some episodes are better than others and in my opinion Season 1 was the weakest but I still enjoy them all.

Mill Creek won't be releasing seasons 6-9 because they only have the rights to previously released sets, which makes it pretty pointless to re-release the sets anyway, especially since there will no special features on these new releases.

It's silly that they're re-releasing the sets. It's only to make the money. Plus, the cover art looks atrocious. Badly photoshopped.

I like that they're releasing Season 1 separately from Season 2, and now we'll finally get a DVD cover with the Lost Girls on it. It's about time they got some recognition!

What is that black thing behind Cindy's head?
