I was checking out a site called ghoulbasement.com (cool site, BTW. I've checked it out before), and I came upon two different VHS versions of Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives.
The first VHS release was from when Paramount had its 75th anniversary, and is in stereo. The second one is from 1988 and is in Ultra Stereo. The latter is the one to get, as movies VI-VIII were mixed in Ultra Stereo, and I-V were mixed in mono.

Pardon me for sounding dumb but does the ultrasound mix make the movie any better? I'm not a big fan of the F13th movies and so the sound on these movies would hardly be noticeable.

I do not really know the difference between stereo and ultra stereo, in all honesty. What I can say is that I always prefer the original sound mix, as heard in theaters.
New mixes often replace sound effects, and sometimes even some dialogue as well. |
