Default George & Dorothys' House

When Hazel and Harold left the George Baxter house, (After George & Dorothy went to the Middle East), to move in the Steve Baxter house, who looked after George's house?? ...and what happened to Smiley, the dog?

Good question. Perhaps they sold it so Harold would have college funds regardless if anything happened to them overseas.

Or perhaps Smiley became the envy of all the neighborhood canines when the George Baxters' amscrayed and Smiley found himself the owner of an EXTRA-EXTRA large doghouse with enough yardage for 1000 fire hydrants!

Regardless, it seemed as though the decision to dump Harold [and Hazel] on Steve was done rather hurriedly as they seemed virtual strangers to him and his wife +daughter when they arrived AND I got the impression that it was virtually a done deal before he told his wife about it.

Lol Who's that cute teeny-bopper in the Baxter house?

Who moved into the George Baxter house when they amscrayed out? Gidget and her Dad, in the 5th year of Hazel, 1966, the George B. house was occupied by Gidget.

If that's the case, then they would have had to have moved that house crosscountry as 'Hazel' took place in a New York suburb while Gidget was a California coastal gal.

Well, let's just say I'm thankful I wasn't driving on any Interstates during that move.

It could be a couple of things. Maybe Steve and Barbara Baxter were obscured by the glow cast by Dierdre Thompson (George and Steve's snooty sister)...or because of the new neighbors who moved in the house next door, who changed the house number and address from 125 Marshall Road in Hydsberg, New York to 1164 Morning Glory Circle in Westport, Connecticut...you will recall that on the Screen Gems street set, the George and Dorothy Baxter residence was next door to that of Darrin and Samantha Stephens of "Bewitched!"

Or one more thing! George made a nice profit on the sale of all those Ford Galaxies, Fairlanes and Mustangs they drove through the years!

You're right! I tuned in an episode of "Gidget" yesterday and yes indeed that was the old George and Dorothy Baxter house. In fact, I paid more attention to the changes that were made in the decor than the fact Sally Field was trying to impress her boyfriend with a prom dress...and in the scene where Gidget and LaRue were in the kitchen tracking down clues to find the dress, the breakfast nook (where Hazel and the Baxters enjoyed their cookies) was just the way Missy left it, right down to that distinctive blue color. (Looked weird with coppertone appliances and birch cabinets, too.)

Looks also like Gidget flushed the goldfish down the crapper. That goldfish/bowl that was on the shelf right behind the blue breakfast nook during the Hazel episodes disappeared when the Gidgets moved in.

You're right a lot of interior changes were made to the Baxter living room/stairway area when Gidget filmed. The outside of the house looked the same though and as you say, so did the kitchen.
