Can age really be a barrier to what kind of clothing a person can wear? For example, what do you think about a woman in her 50s wearing clothing that can be considered "sexy", such as a bikini, or maybe an evening gown with spaghetti straps? Just a thought.

I don't think spaghetti straps are a problem for an older woman if she has the figure to pull it off. Not so sure a 75-year old should be sporting a bikini. I don't think that either men or women should wear clothes from Old Navy. It makes sense to dress age appropriately. A 21-year old young lady shouldn't wear a matronly looking outfit that her grandmother would wear. JMHO.

I don't see that age should matter, as long as it looks good on you, wear it.

Barbara Eden still looks GREAT in her Jeannie costume, and I think she is 78. |

Totally agree! It's totally an individual thing, physical age should not have anything to do with it. It's like most women think when they reach a certain age they HAVE to get the short granny haircut, and I don't see why, some women who are older still look good with long hair. Just like long hair looks good on some men and short hair looks good on some women. I've heard ppl say NO MAN looks good with long hair, and I think that's bull! It depends on the man. |

I heard from a survey from a couple years ago finding that women agree that a woman should stop wearing clothing that exposes her bare midriff or navel after her early-to-mid 30s. Here's a chart on when a woman must give up various styles, regardless of the condition of her body:
Boob Tube, 33 Leather trousers, 34 Belly button piercing, 35 Miniskirt, 35 See-through chiffon blouse, 40 Tight vest, 44 Trainers, 44 Leggings, 45 Ugg boots, 45 Bikini, 47 Knee high boots, 47 Ponytail, 51 Stilettos, 51 Long hair, 53 Swimsuit, 61 So does this mean there could be women who believe that a woman should stop wearing open-toe shoes (I think that includes flip-flops) or evening gowns? |
