Question Has anyone ever noticed June rarely laughed?

Even in the funniest of situations June would only offer a hint of a smile or perhaps a light chuckle. I wonder if a large goofaw was considered un ladylike?

I suppose you are right...he he...I never really gave that perspective much thought. However she always seemed happy with her domestic life. Perhaps it was a bottle of gin under the counter!...lol

You're so right Cablejockey!! I think when kids use to watch LITB they we're more focused on Wally & Beaver. Then when you would get older & more mature, you would notice the repartee between Ward & June!!

Ward and June did have a great sense of humor, and often teased each other about particular things. They rarely ever got on each others nerves.

Default Absolutely!!

You're so right!! I think what was obvious to the average LITB viewer, was the chemistry between all the actors!!(Ward Beaumont & Barbara Billingsly, Tony Dow & Jerry Mathers, Tony Dow & Ken Osmond), the list goes on and on....

I wouldn't be laughing all that much if I did all the housework wearing those high heels!

If you watch the episode, Music Lesson, there is a rare scene where June laughs out loud after Beaver leaves the room after he had just shown his parents how well he's coming on learning how to play the clarinet.

So true. In fact, they flirted with each other in practically every episode.

Default June rarely laughed

It may be that June laughed more in the earlier episodes. Since TVLand started over with episode one this week, I noticed that June laughed audible in the episodes Captain Jack (when Ward said the alligator bit him) and she laughed along with Ward when discussing the problems the boys must have had while babysitting in the episode Child Care.

I was thinking, while watching these first season episodes, that June was far more relaxed and likely to joke, as was Ward. But their humor and joking was somewhat subtle.

I think as the series progressed, she became more formal with less of a sense of humor.

I agree. As the years progressed they used her sense of humor less and less.

I also noticed that. In the first few seasons, the writers gave June some hillarious lines and her character was much more relaxed. In the last two seasons (I think this is where it is most noticeable) she didn't laugh or joke as much but she did still joke.
