Post If you were in charge of Nick at Nite scheduling . . .

If you were in charge of the scheduling for Nick at Nite, using all the shows that Nick will air after the Cheers marathon, how would you put together the schedule.

Here's what I would do. First of all, Nick at Nite would start at 7:00 pm Central time like it did in the late 80's and early to mid 90's. I would also schedule an hour of Family Ties and an hour of Cheers simply because they are new. Also, this would be seven days a week. None of that short changing on Friday and Saturdays. Also, they would come on at the right time, not five or ten minutes late.

(Central Time)

7:00 The Brady Bunch
7:30 Gilligan's Island
8:00 Family Ties
8:30 Family Ties
9:00 Diff'rent Strokes
9:30 The Facts of Life
10:00 Cheers
10:30 Cheers
11:00 Three's Company
11:30 The Jeffersons
12:00 All in the Family
12:30 Laverne & Shirley
1:00 Family Ties
1:30 Diff'rent Strokes
2:00 The Facts of Life
2:30 Cheers
3:00 Three's Company
3:30 The Jeffersons
4:00 All in the Family
4:30 Laverne & Shirley

Then when the Cosby Show arrives in March 2002:

7:00 The Brady Bunch
7:30 Gilligan's Island
8:00 The Cosby Show
8:30 The Cosby Show
9:00 Family Ties
9:30 Diff'rent Strokes
10:00 The Facts of Life
10:30 Cheers
11:00 Three's Company
11:30 The Jeffersons
12:00 All in the Family
12:30 Laverne & Shirley
1:00 The Cosby Show
1:30 Family Ties
2:00 Diff'rent Strokes
2:30 The Facts of Life
3:00 Cheers
3:30 Three's Company
4:00 The Jeffersons
4:30 All in the Family

If I was in charge of Nick programming and they gave me that to choose from, I'd quit.

Actually, that line up isn't too shabby given that a lot of shows are given air time and the new shows get a little more. More variety = more viewers. At this point as the program director, I'd just keep running those brilliant unrealathons until Christmas and then try to capture a niche in te viewing audience as a New Year's resolution. Oh, I would definitely close the official N@N website and have one of those snail mailboxes that dumped the pesky viewer mail into a dumpster without ever being read.

If I were in charge of programming at Nick at Nite, I'd quit and get a job with TV Land or Game Show Network!

I'd sorta add my own shows into the mix:
8:00 PM: "The Brady Bunch"
8:30 PM: "Family Ties"
9:00 PM: "Diff'rent Strokes"
9:30 PM: "The Facts of Life"
10:00 PM: "Three's Company"
10:30 PM: "Cheers"
11:00 PM: "Laverne & Shirley"
11:30 PM: "All in the Family"
12:00 PM: "The Jeffersons"
12:30 PM: "Gilligan's Island"
1:00 AM: "Perfect Strangers" (NEW)
1:30 AM: "Head of the Class" (NEW)
2:00 AM: "Soap" (NEW)
2:30 AM: "Benson" (NEW)
3:00 AM: "Maude" (NEW)
3:30 AM: "Good Times" (NEW)
4:00 AM: "Barney Miller" (NEW)
4:30 AM: "Alice" (NEW)
5:00 AM: "WKRP in Cincinnati" (New)

And I'd Only Add Shows That Were Cancelled Before 1989 (PS and HOTC would be in there to Use Since No One in Viacom Wants To Show It)

OOPS!!!

I forgot to read "using all the shows that Nick will air after the Cheers marathon" the first time!

In that case, here's my proposal:

8:00 pm - 6:00 am "The Brady Bunch" wall to wall, uncut (take four episodes and repeat them, five times, unless a special (Variety Hour, Brides, Bradys, etc.) is to be aired)
