Update: VH1's "Single Ladies" Gets Revived at Centric
VH1′s "Single Ladies" Canceled, To End Run after Three Seasons
by NELLIE ANDREEVA February 28, 2014 "Single Ladies" helped usher drama series programming on VH1. Now the show, from Queen Latifah‘s Flavor Unit, is set to end its run after three seasons. "Single Ladies‘" third season is currently airing, with the upcoming March 24 season finale serving as series finale. “We’ve been proud to deliver three seasons of the drama, romance and style that engaged viewers in each episode of Single Ladies,” VH1 said in a statement to Deadline. “Although we’ve decided not to move forward with another season, we hope to work again with the talented cast, creatives and producers as well as our partners at Flavor Unit Entertainment in the near future. We also thank the show’s fans for their support since the premiere in 2011.” Comedic drama series "Single Ladies" started off as a movie before becoming VH1′s first hourlong scripted series. Its success opened the door to "Hit The Floor", which became a breakout hit in its launch last summer, and drama "Hindsight", which was just picked up to series. There were bumps on the road. Shortly after VH1 renewed "Single Ladies" for a third season in August 2012, creator/executive producer Stacy A. Little exited the project. Season 3 didn’t launch until this January, a year and a half after it was ordered. Still, "Single Ladies" is leaving on a high note. Its third season opener drew 2.6 million viewers. For the premiere airing and its same night encore combined, "Single Ladies" grew each seasons:, posting 2.9 for the season premiere, 3.2 million for the Season 2 opener and 3.5 million for Season 3. http://www.deadline.com/2014/02/vh1s...three-seasons/ |

Centric Revives Canceled VH1 Series "Single Ladies" with 4th Season Order
by NELLIE ANDREEVA April 8, 2014 It was a very short stay in primetime graveyard for the Queen Latifah-produced "Single Ladies". A month after the hourlong scripted series was cancelled by VH1 after three seasons, it has been picked up by BET Networks’ Centric. The 24-hour music and entertainment network, which targets African-American women, has inked a production deal with Queen Latifah and Shakim Compere’s Flavor Unit Entertainment, which produces "Let’s Stay Together" for BET. Under the pact, Centric has ordered a fourth season of "Single Ladies". The hourlong romantic comedy series, set in the world of Atlanta fashion, music, and celebrity, is still airing its third season on VH1, with the upcoming May 24 season finale no longer serving as a series ender. The cancellation by VH1 is not the first time "Single Ladies" hit a bump in the road. Shortly after it was renewed for a third season in August 2012, creator/executive producer Stacy A. Littlejohn exited the project. Season 3 didn’t launch until this January, a year and a half after it was ordered. But it still is going strong, with the third-season opener drawing 2.6 million viewers. It has grown in each of its seasons, posting 2.9 for the series premiere night airings, 3.2 million for the Season 2 opening night and 3.5 million for Season 3. Also as part of the deal with Flavor Unit, the syndicated "Queen Latifah Show", which Flavor Unit co-produces with Overbrook Entertainment and Sony Pictures TV, will air in primetime on Centric. http://www.deadline.com/2014/04/cent...-season-order/ |
