Amazon Revives "Ripper Street" for Season 3

Amazon has given "Ripper Street" new life: The website has revived the once-canceled BBC show for a third season, TVGuide.com has learned.

The new season will air on Amazon Prime Instant Video for U.K. subscribers before it premieres on BBC One a few months later.

The first two seasons of the series, which takes place during the era of Jack the Ripper and stars Matthew Macfayden, will also be available to stream.

"Ripper Street" is getting detoured again — and this time it’s permanent.

Amazon Prime confirmed Monday that the Victorian crime mystery will end after its upcoming fifth season.

To recap, the streaming service saved "Ripper Street" — which centers on a group of detectives trying to maintain law and order in a place once terrorized by Jack the Ripper — after it was axed by the BBC in 2013, following its second season.

Production on Season 5 is currently underway in Dublin, for a debut later this year.
