Oba Chandler - Possible Other Victims

Given the ugliness in Oba's main thread, I opted to start a new one instead.


We now know he was at the very least a two time killer and a serial rapist. I'm trying to nail down when he moved to Florida to see if he could be a suspect in other central Florida cases, such as Little Miss Panasofkee or Tammy Leppert or even Amy Billig (Oba Chandler was once an informant for the Customs Depart, albeit in the early 1990s, but it's an interesting coincidence.

News reports published today, say that DNA has connected Oba Chandler to another cold case murder from 1990.

Ivelisse Berrios Beguerisse, who was 20 years old, was found murdered on the side of the road in Coral Springs FL on November 27, 1990. She worked at a mall. Her car was found in the parking lot with the tires slashed. Police believed Chandler used his helpful good samaritan routine to offer her a ride after she got off work and discovered that her car had been disabled.

Incomplete timeline. I'll update as I find new info. I thought I'd put this here in case anyone wants to know where Chandler was on certain dates, what his known or suspected crimes are, to help rule him in or out of cases you may think he is responsible for.

10/11/1946 - Oba Chandler's birth, raised in Cincinnati, OH

6/1957 - (age 10) Oba Chandler's father commits suicide in the basement of the family home.

1960 - Stealing cars by age 14, arrested 20 times as a juvenile

12/25/1965 - 1/11/1967 - Chandler in the U.S. Marines at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, honorable discharge

Adult years - Charged with possession of counterfeit money; loitering and prowling; burglary; kidnapping and armed robbery, (in one incident he had accomplice tie up the male while he took the female into another room and sexually abused her at gunpoint); receiving stolen property from a beauty salon; accused of peeping in windows

1979 - 1991 - Authorities track Chandler's movements around FL, OH, GA, KY, and possibly Toronto, Canada

9/5/1982 - Anna Maria Island FL, the body of Amy Rose Hurst from New Port Richey FL is found in the water, tied to a concrete block, Chandler isn't considered a suspect until about 10 years later; case remains unsolved (UPDATE: in 2013, Amy Rose Hurst's husband was convicted of her murder. http://www.wptv.com/news/state/willi...t-30-years-ago)

5/14/1988 - Marries a woman from Tarpon Springs FL

2/1989 - The last of Chandler's 8 children (with 7 different women) is born

5/15/1989 - Madeira Beach FL, using the alias Dave Posner or Posno, Chandler lures a Canadian tourist onto his boat and rapes her

6/1/1989 - Tampa FL, murders the Rogers family

9/1989 (approx) - Sold the boat used in the murders

1990 - UM prepares to air the unsolved Rogers family murder segment, Chandler and his wife unexpectedly abandon their home, allowing it to be foreclosed, and move away from Tampa to Port Orange near Daytona Beach FL

11/27/1990 - Coral Springs FL, murders Ivelisse Berrios Beguerisse; case remains unsolved until 2014

1990 - 1991 - Authorities believe Chandler family was living in Broward County FL

4/1991 - 9/1991 - Tampa FL, Chandler is an informant for US Customs department

9/1991 - Leasing a home in Port Orange FL

10/11/1991 - (Chandler's birthday) Daytona Beach FL, Linda Little goes missing from a 7/11 convenience store, she has not been found. Chandler refused to answer investigator's questions, victim's sister says she believes she saw Chandler at victim's apartment complex a few days before she disappeared

11/10/1992 - Indicted for all three Rogers murders

9/29/1994 - Found guilty on all counts, sentenced to death

11/15/2011 - Death penalty carried out by lethal injections at 4:00pm. When asked if he had any last words, he said, "No." Death declared at 4:25pm.

2/25/2014 - DNA connects Chandler to 1990 murder of Ivelisse Berrios Beguerisse

Linda Lois Little is listed as a possible victim of Oba Chandler. She vanished from Daytona Beach in 1991 on Oba Chandler's birthday.

This link has Oba being at Camp Lejeune from 12/25/65 to 1/11/67 as a Marine. That's a 2 year hold cleared up.
