Default "The Hero" - does anyone remember?

I have a very vague recollection of a sitcom called "The Hero", that aired Thursday nights on NBC in the late 60s. I hear that the late Richard Mulligan (Burt on "Soap") was on this series. Does anybody remember it?

I have read about this for years, and I finally found an episode of it on www.tv4u.com . It was a Talent Associates (Get Smart) production that aired on NBC during the 1966-67 season. If you look for the comedies there, you should find it.

This show was before my time so I had to "cheat" and look it up in "The Complete Directory to Prime Time Network and Cable TV Shows" by Tim Brooks and Earle Marsh . The main character of "The Hero" was Sam Garret ( Richard Mulligan ) . His wife was Ruth Garret ( Mariette Hartley ), and his son was Paul Garret ( Bobby Horan ) . Sam Garret was a hugely popular TV star who played a cowboy hero in the series "Jed Clayton -- U . S . Marshal" . Offscreen, he was a nice guy who was afraid of horses, allergic to sagebrush, and generally all thumbs . Sam Garret drove a car ( a Cadillac ? ) with longhorns on the hood and six -- guns for handles . Sam Garret's neighbors were Fred Gilman ( Victor French ) and Barton Gilman ( Joey Baio ) . Another character in this show was Dewey ( Marc London ) . Sam and Ruth Garret might have been the very first couple on TV who slept in the same bed, but I don't know for sure . Victor French later appeared in "Little House on the Prairie", "Carter Country", and "Highway to Heaven" . Joey Baio is the cousin of Scott Baio, who appeared in "Happy Days", "Joanie Loves Chachi", and "Charles in Charge" and the brother of Jimmy Baio of "Soap" .

Madderest

I got tripped up on the "the first couple on TV who slept in the same bed" piece of information ! To my knowledge, the rest of the information I offered was correct .

Thanks for letting us know, but I could only find My Hero on tv4u.com, but not The Hero. They are two different shows.

Very rare show. I think there are only a couple in collectors circles. I don't really care for it as I'm not a fan of slapstick.
