Talking I saw Lisa Whelchel today!!!!

I live in Nashville, TN, and I saw her shopping at the Walmart Supercenter in Cool Springs!!! I didn't recognize her at first. Her oldest daughter is the one that got my attention. She was so loud and cheerful, and quite excited about certain foods...lol I won't go into great detail, but after noticing other people staring at Lisa, I finally realized who she was! I did mention to her that her daughter was really adorable and seemed so joyful (which is something I was planning on telling her before I found out who she was). She smiled, and I don't remember if she actually said thank you. She wasn't looking directly at people, or smiling at all. I would think she hates shopping since so many people stare at her. It was pretty funny though that her daughter was bringing so much attention to her when she probably didn't want to be noticed. I only saw the one lady ask her who she was...everyone else just stared a lot. This was my first time to ever see a "celebrity" in real life! Very exciting I found this forum while doing a quick FOL search, and thought I'd share my little sighting with the rest of you guys!

Just out of curiosity, would Lisa ever consider WORKING at a Wal-Mart? I read that they're not supposed to report injuries on the job so the company won't have to pay workman's comp...

OF COURSE she wouldn't have to work at Wal-Mart!! Cuz she's famous!!

Has Lisa ever heard of the Goo Goo Dolls or Sheryl Crow?

That's cool! The only famous person I ever see from time to time shopping is Armand Assante.

You saw Lisa Whelchel at Wal-Mart?!? Wow! If I every saw her at Wal-Mart, who knows what I'll do?!?! LOL! That thought of her eldest daughter being loud is halarious, by the way. What a lucky ducky.

Default RE: Lisa at Wal-Mart

To ks, yes to both your questions. But seriously, about a year ago, there was an article in a local Seattle paper that said Wal-Mart was trying to keep hush-hush about any accidents on the job, that injured employees couldn't collect workmen's comp, etc.
So I'm just trying to be controversial. And a few years ago, there was a big deal in the news that Wal-Mart banned the latest
albums (at the time) by the Goo Goo Dolls ("A Boy Named Goo") because it looked like the kid's face on the album cover was "bloody"--it was actually RASPBERRY JAM on his face!! And Sheryl Crow had a line in one of her songs on her album saying "Kids buy guns over the counter at Wal-Mart"...
And Mr. Sam Wal-Mart (the second richest guy in the country next to Bill Gates) takes the song too seriously--most likely it's about the easy access to guns kids have in this country--NOT about anything against Wal-Mart, I'm sure.

So how about those nifty Wal-Mart bargain prices!!

Plus, you can't be too down on Wal-Mart for letting Lisa's family camp in their RV in their parking lot...

Yep, I was pretty excited...I wasn't sure if I should even say anything to her. I think the reason she wasn't more talkative/friendly was that she maybe thought I would start asking her questions or singing the FOL theme song to her...you never know

I didn't realize that her family was touring around the US until this evening when I went to her site. That's awesome! I was wondering if she lived here maybe...I guess not since her hubby is a pastor in California!

Anyhoo, time for bed Nightey-night!

I think that would have been pretty neat to meet a celebrity in the grocery store.

Both of her books are great. I have them both and have read them. I can't wait for her third book. You can really find some interesting facts about Lisa and her family in those books. She really does write from the heart.
