I watched the first disc of season 1. I enjoy these earlier episodes. Some notes:
The French Teacher - as said before, it is hard to think of this actor as being a teen love interest, but it had some The Genius - this is a funny episode and plays into the change in education at the time, computer programming (what a giant complicated computer) emphasis on I.Q. and experimental education techniques. The Elopement - was very cute, especially the way the family worked together to surprise Martin and the mixup that ensued. In actuality, at that time, teen marriage was still fairly commonplace. The Birds & The Bees Bit - what a great episode. Paul O'Keefe was a great kid actor. He had such great lines throughout the series and a terrific delivery. This was one episode that was full of family love but it was not beyond belief. I know lots of families who went through this very same thing. Also it had a great father-son scene in addition to a nice father-daughter scene. And I love Martin's description of what a wife is for...cook, clean, wash the dishes, do the laundry, nurse you when you're sick, bring up your children... I didn't care about the little girl. The southern accent was very annoying,\. Would have been better with a New Yorker. In this episode, Ross says he goes to P.S. 8 and that is an actual school in Brooklyn Heights he would have attended. |
