More cyberbullying.
![]() link Girl Says Fake Twitter Account Created In Her Name In Cyberbullying Case Author: Mark Boyle, Reporter, Posted: February 5, 2013 Porter, Texas - An investigation is underway at Porter High School after a student claims someone made a fake Twitter account with her name attached. The mother of the victim doesn't want to be identified, but says life for her daughter, who is a senior, has turned into a nightmare. "No one should have to go to school knowing that people put this type of stuff on the internet about you," she said. The senior teen says someone found a picture of her and used that for the profile picture and, to make matters worse, the victim's mother says it all was done while at school. "To know that it's happening at school when they should be learning is just slap in the face," she said. The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office and New Caney School District are investigating. The school's code of conduct speaks about cyberbullying. One paragraph reads: "Cyberbullying is defined as the use of any Internet-connected device for the purpose of bullying, harassing, or intimidating another student. This includes creating a social networking site or web page that masquerades as the victim's personal site and using it to embarrass him or her." The school district confirms students are permitted to use wifi while at school, but went onto say cyberbullying is punishable. The sheriff's office says criminal charges could be filed if the person who committed the crime is caught. Meanwhile, the victim and her mother are trying to put this behind them but still are trying to figure out why this was done in the first place. When we asked the victim's mom why someone would make the fake account, she replied, "Just to be mean." Copyright 2014 by Click2Houston.com. All rights reserved. |

Sad to hear. Hopefully the person doing it will be caught and then stop it.
Of course, I personally wouldn't really care what anyone says about me- whether in person or online- I know who I am in Christ and I listen to what He says about me- that I am loved and valuable to Him- and ignore the world. I know it's still hurtful though to see such mean things said about you and such...Hopefully people who really know this girl would know that she would never say or do the (I presume) mean and horrible things being reported on the fake Twitter account. It's sad that technology that can be used for good things can quickly become corrupted to use for evil things... |
