Sad Philip Seymour Hoffman 1967-2014

Link

The actor Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead in his New York apartment on Sunday morning of an apparent drug overdose, according to a law enforcement official who requested anonymity because he was not certain the actor’s family had been informed of the death.

The official said Mr. Hoffman, 46, was found in his West Village apartment around 11:30 a.m. by a friend who had become concerned at not being able to reach Mr. Hoffman.

Investigators found a syringe in his arm and an envelope containing what is believed to be heroin, the official said.

“It’s pretty apparent that it was an overdose,” the official said. “The syringe was in his arm.”

Mr. Hoffman won the Academy Award for Best Actor in 2005 for his role in “Capote,” in which he portrayed the writer Truman Capote.

He had undergone treatment for drug addiction in the past, and spoke in interviews about “falling off the wagon” last year after remaining clean for 23 years.

A woman answering the phone at Mr. Hoffman’s New York production company declined to comment. “I don’t have a comment at this time on that, thank you,” she said.

Eek

That's a gigantic surprise. I'm thinking either heart attack or drugs, and the only reason for the first of the two would be his weight.

I'm saddened to hear this. Mr. Hoffman was an exception actor and until recently, had been sober for 23 years.

Default Tragic, very sad.

My heart goes out to his kids and family and friends.
I always have told people that he and Kevin Spacey were the two greatest living actors actors.
Sad that he could not overcome his addiction.
Beginning to think that rehab just doesn't work.
Wonder if he was bullied when young leading for the need.
Life sucks sometimes.

An Oscar-winning actor dead after just 47 years of an apparent drug overdose?

I call that a devastating waste. And a tragic death like this tries to mar Super Bowl Sunday.

Hoffman left several projects unfinished, including a new series on Showtime titled Happyish, and was supposed to direct a film titled Ezekiel Moss this year.

I'm beginning to think that Hollywood needs a Wellness Policy. Actors, directors and crew members need to stay off drugs and substance abuse and steroids.

Sad Rest in peace Philip Seymour Hoffman

So sad; such a great talent and so young. He never really looked healthy. I used to comment to my husband that his drinking or whatever showed on his face. Never thought the whatever was heroin; that's hardcore. His poor children, now growing up without a father. Drugs suck, claimed both of my sisters' lives.

Devastating news. He truly was one of the very best. Talents like him do not come around too often. It is terrible that he fell back into drugs.

May he

50 Bags of Heroin Found in Philip Seymour Hoffman's Apartment
Feb 3, 2014
by Robyn Ross

About 50 bags of heroin and numerous used syringes have been found in Philip Seymour Hoffman's home, police told ABC News. Authorities also found drug paraphernalia and prescription drugs, ABC reports.

The Oscar-winning actor was found by a friend on the bathroom floor of his apartment Sunday morning with a syringe in his arm. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No cause of death has been determined and police are still currently investigating.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday, according to CNN.

They are now saying that they think that his dealers gave him bad heroin and that's what caused his death. I heard on the news that if they find the dealers. They may be tried for murder.

I know what he did was stupid. And, I am angry with the way he wasted his life. But, I loved that man as an actor and as a person. He was just so creative and down to earth at the same time. Every interview I saw him in. He was upbeat, happy, and very nice. To be clean for 23 years and then go back to doing horse. He had to have some sort of breakdown. Personally, I think it because he girlfriend dumped him after 14 years. I mean...that really had to hurt.

We never know why people (actors or just regular everyday people) do what they do. But, I have no business judging him on the way he died. God has a plan, we die the way he chooses us to die. I mean. Personally I think everyone has a destiny.

I will miss Phil. He was here for a reason. To make people laugh, cry, and everything in between.

My thoughts, and my prayers definitely go out to his family. Especially his children. His youngest, Willa is a year younger than I was when I lost my dad. And, I really wonder how she's gonna take it. Hopefully, she'll have memories of the good times she had with him. Like I did with my daddy. I just wanna hug his kids and tell them that everything will be okay.
