Default TNT's colorized Gilligan's Island episodes

In the 90's I remember TNT airing colorized versions of Gilligan's Island first season and they looked pretty good to me although I can't seem to find any of these episodes online or Youtube.

I know there are many die hard fans that probably hate Ted Turner for having done this and ruined the original presentation but it's always a neat little curiosity to watch them again.

So does anybody else remember watching them and if so would you like to see them again even for nostalgic reasons?

I have seen a couple of the colorized episodes that ""were" black & white originally. It's a little weird colored in?
The colors obviously are not as good as Season 3. See for yourself:

Hmm I have a few Three Stooges DVD's that have select episodes colorized and they look pretty decent. Would Gilligan's Island fans want the first season re-colorized again?

I think if they were colored in REALLY well it might be good. Do they sell season 1 colorized on DVD any where uncut, unedited? I looked online to no avail.

Oh No

I dunno...I now like the monochrome (B&W) shows and films rather than the computerized color films and shows...but that's me...

The DVDs for Season 1 are only in black and white. I wish there was a color version available.

The colorization on the GI episodes were done when the process was still not 100% perfected, and this the look of the process and the color pallet doesn't look right.

Now a few years later, when Sony Colorized Bewitched & I Dream of Jeannie it looked much, much better. Infact, the Bewitched episodes benefited from the fact the regular sets, and many of the costumes were the same in Season 3 and they were in Season 1&2 - giving them a perfect pallet and look to match. Sometimes you can't tell the difference between a season 2 colorized and a season 3 Color. Right down to some of the walls still being green! (light green is used instead of white as it looks better, and reflects less than White in B&W)

The colorization on the First Season of "I Dream of Jeannie" is more obvious due to the differences in sets and costumes between Seasons 1 & 2.

I wish they would try again and perfect the color for Gilligan season 1 and sell on DVD. I like it. My 4 year old loves Gilligan season 2 and 3 because of the color and I wish she'd enjoy season 1 as much but the b & w doesn't appeal to her. Yeah she's a kid but I just want her to enjoy it all. Perhaps when she's older? I think they did a good job with Bewitched and Jeannie. I guess we'll have to wait and see and hope for the best?

I searched the web, and other than the TV recorded episodes in color that are for trade here, there is no colorized DVD version of the 1st season available. I wish there were.

MeTV showed the colorized season 1 for a cycle, and they look as bad as they always have. They had other seasons to go by--you'd think they could have matched the tee shirt colors, for example. With the Lucy episodes recently done (which I think are also poor), at least there's a good excuse--no frame of reference.

Now that I've seen the MeTV colorized airings it's really noticeable how bad and washed out the colors look and everybodys skintone looks to be orange/brown like they've been given a bad tan.

It's been years since I saw season 1 colorized. I just don't remember how bad they looked?

The colorized 1 season looks like a dull painting. Dust off the grime and the color would bloom!!!

Default I hope they re-color Season 1

I wonder how much could it have REALLY cost to shoot season 1 in color compared to black & white? It REALLY bothers me season 1 was NOT shot in color. And it is rarely shown on TV too.

Yeah, I think they could have done a better job colorization than this but this was a 1990 1st attempt I believe. It's not that bad, but when you compare it to season 2 and 3 really it is not a fair comparison. What looks the WORST and most obvious is the sky. It's a blueish purple? I have never seen a sky like that EVER?

I hope they try again with today's 2015 Digital techniques and computers to re-color Season 1. IF done correctly, I'd better it would look great?

I really don't like the color in Season 1 at all. It's not good color at all (looks washed out to me), and it doesn't look like the shirt colors match at all. The Skipper's shirt is NAVY blue in the Season 1 re-color, but it's more a ROYAL blue in Season 2 and 3. I'm just so used to Season 1 being in black and white and I've grown to love it that way!
