Just watched an episode on "48 Hours" about this case. Wonder if anyone else caught it. A brief rundown: Brett & Tammy Parker were a happily married couple for 16 years with two kids. Tammy was the bread winner with a six figure salary. Brett was an illegal bookie, and his best friend, Bryan Capnerhurst was his "associate" who helped him on the side. Brett owed Bryan a huge amount of money and had promised to get it to him. One day Brett called him and asked him to come over (Brett says it was to talk about the debt, the police say he lulled him over with the promise of the money). According to Brett, Bryan shows up and while Brett was in the bathroom, he heard four shots ring out. He ran up his staircase and saw Bryan holding a gun on him. He saw his wife dead on the floor. Brett alleges that Bryan held him at gunpoint and took him to his safe (where Brett had a gun hidden on the top of the safe under some blankets). Brett drew the gun and shot Bryan dead. He called police and claimed self defense. Police did not buy his story, and thought he planned the whole thing as a way to gain his wife's life insurance policy. Long story short, he went to trial and got convicted. The show didn't really sway me in one direction or the other, but I found the story interesting nonetheless.
