http://www.crackle.com/c/jeopardy-flashback
In honor of 30 years of the current version of Jeopardy!, and in conjunction with the upcoming Battle of the Decades Tournament, Sony's Crackle, is offering select episodes from the shows' past 30 seasons. So far, they have posted 15 episodes from 1985-1993. They all even have the original King-World/End Title logos. Sweet! The Game Show Network reruns never featured those, nor did they ever show seasons 4-8, save for the Super Jeopardy! finale from Summer 1990. |

Apologies for the double post, but I would also like to share some photos and make some comments on the set changes, some of which I never really paid attention to, until now, thanks to the far superior picture quality.
Wide set shots. Seasons 2-7 in order of appearance. https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/14...0/855/6ai6.png https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/14...90/23/a9q3.png https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/14...0/513/x5lr.png https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/14...0/198/d6sm.png https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/14...0/542/mldo.png https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/13...90/20/6vdh.png Contestant lecterns. Once again, seasons 2-7 in order of appearance. https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/14...0/829/ndog.png https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/14...0/839/1brn.png https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/14...0/703/x73t.png https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/14...0/841/cckc.png https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/14...90/13/dd44.png https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/14...90/38/e83x.png The Jeopardy! board. Once more, seasons 2-7 in order of appearance. https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/14...0/833/ye0w.png https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/14...90/59/kd4u.png https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/14...90/59/2965.png https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/13...0/594/ztko.png https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/13...90/14/qi0p.png https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/13...90/40/mqa4.png Now, for some comments on the set changes: I knew about the spotlight above Alex's podium disappearing after season 5 ended, but now, it also looks to like they may have changed soundstages in season 4. Season 1 was at KTTV Metromedia Square, and Seasons 2-10 were at Hollywood Center Studios. Every season after 10 was, of course, at Sony Pictures Television. Notice seasons 2 and 3 have an audience on camera, but seasons 4-7 don't. The borders on the south-end of the main carpet look like they had paint jobs, not to mention the steps behind Alex's podium look like they got a tad smaller. I also notice the circle under Alex's podium, and one under the contestants lecterns. They seemed to get smaller and smaller, and were gone by season 7. I knew about the scoreboards becoming rounded in season 7 (they actually debuted in Super Jeopardy!, which came immediately before that), but it looks to me like the contestant's podiums were a tad smaller in season 3, than in the others. I knew about the light borders around the category headings being replaced with backlights in season 4, but it also looks to me like the borders around the monitors got a few paint jobs over the next 5 years, especially after the ones they got for Super Jeopardy!. Last, but not least, I didn't know Alex Trebek began wearing his reading glasses sometime in season 6. I thought it was during Super Jeopardy!. I may have known before, but later forgot. It happens. In conclusion, it is great to at long last see some of these particular episodes from seasons 4-8 in broadcast quality, aside from the poor-quality off-air copies we've been so used to seeing. |
