Default Taking too long....

I'm tempted to pick up one of those cheap public domain releases and call it good. It will likely be another 8-10 years before this complete series is released

If you don't mind watching on youtube, it's amazing how many complete episodes are on there now. Plus of course, there are the by-now several years old Shout Factory and Mill Creek sets that were much discussed on this forum. Plus Alpha continues to put its very good four episode DVDs ("The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, vol. xx"). Most of their DVDs contain episodes already put out by SF or MC, but that's not always the case.

Of course, the widespread availability of so many episodes on these DVDs and on youtube cannot be helping the commercial viability of the restoration project. But you cannot blame fans who want to see the show from getting the episodes where they are available now (plus, the Nelsons were involved in the SF releases, so presumably they at least earned some royalties from those. And of course, most other shows from that era--Andy Griffith, Beverly Hillbillies--have also had numerous PD releases.)

I've seen a few clips of O&H on youtube out of curiousity after reading about Sam Nelson's plans of releasing the complete series of his grandparents show and it made me a fan since. Since I last posted I did end up getting the Mill Creek Release the one with 100 episodes. I've seen the first 4 and they are watchable even as promised including the commercials and the syndicated print I've seen so far was not noticeable. I kind of enjoy the episodes when the kids were younger imo. I do plan to eventually get the Shout Factory sets (the first one and the one with the best of Rick and Dave) and the Sam Nelson restoration project whenever that gets released. Hopefully Sam will get all the episodes uncut and insert the commercials in too.

FYI just ordered The Best of The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet and The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet: Best Of Ricky & Dave. There may be some overlapping with the 100 episode Mill Creek set but some episodes are not on that MC DVD like "Captain Salty & The Submarine", "David and the Teenager" and "Ozzie The Sitter".

Also interested in hearing the commentaries of the late David Nelson and Rick's son Sam Nelson.

The Shout Factory releases are wonderful and I'm glad you're getting them; you won't be disappointed. And that great 100 ep Mill Creek set certainly gives you a bang for your buck. The commentaries are heartwarming and informative. Again, you won't be disappointed!

I can't wait. So far I am impressed with the Mill Creek DVD of Ozzie and Harriet. Just finished Disc 1 got 11 more to go lol. It's not remastered but still pretty watchable and the audio is clear to me not muffled. I am thankful the commercials are included they are a hoot today especially using Listerine to cure dandruff

My 2 Shout sets have shipped and I should get them this week. I was tempted but didn't buy that special Christmas set from Shout Factory but only 4 episodes and no special features I'm may be a newbie O&H fan but even I know they did more than 4 holiday episodes.

Well, between the Mill Creek and two 24 Ep Shout! Sets, you have plenty to watch. So if you want to hold off on the Xmas eps that makes sense. Besides, I bet you could find some of them on You Tube.

Yes I'm now satisfied with Essential & 2 shout sets. I wanted these shows on DVD. I'll just now wait for Sam Nelson to release the complete series DVD set in who knows how long that will be.....

I love THAT GIRL own and enjoyed rewatching all 5 seasons of the show. The DVD boxsets look so good on the shelf too! Has a retro look to it to be quite honest.

I did manage to watch all 4 commentaries and enjoyed listening to the banter between David and Sam.
A worthy purchase & with Dave gone I'm sure this will be the only way to hear him talk about the show a few years before his death.
You can tell Sam really loved his dad and spoke fondly of him. David gave great insight into the show and I'm glad he took part in it. Sam was great in asking the right questions and it was nice that he got to see the Circus episode for the first time as well with his Uncle.

Knowing that this was Nelson approved also made it special. They put some great classic episodes on there too like "The Fraternity Rents A Room". And yes, the points you make about those commentaries prove the sets are worth every penny spent.

Funny about That Girl cause as a young teen, when the show originally aired, I wasn't particularly taken with it. But now, as an adult, I adore the show. I have the first three seasons. You're making me want to crack them out! Ann was cute as a button and Don is the b/f every girl dreams of having. And of course my great city is in it too!
