I remember that very well. It was as if the entire world was cheering on her rescue. I heard once that the rescuer whose arms she was in had his 15 minutes of fame. Everyone wanted to talk with him. When all the attention stopped, he couldn't handle it and committed suicide.

I remember hearing about that. I looked it up and baby Jessica fell down a well on October 14, 1987. I was just about to turn 9 years old.
It's great that she was rescued. It's sad that all the attention her rescuer got for sayving her lead to his suicide. |

I remember that very well! I felt so sorry for the parents. What a terrible ordeal that was! I doubt that baby Jessica remembers anything which is a blessing.

I was having supper at a Pizzeria when Jessica was rescued. A Detro1t Redwings game was playing on a monitor, the game was interrupted which made several fans yell HEY!!! Once they realized what was happening things went silent, and the man returned with Jessica the entire restaurant everyone applauded. The Manager got on a PA System and announced what happened .... Well if I was outside the restaurant I still would have had to cover my ears.
I read that Jessica received over $1,000,000.00 in donations. Jessica wasn't the only child who got showered with gifts after they underwent a life-threatening incident. Three months earlier a four-year-old girl was the sole survivor of a plane crash in Michigan, then in December another child got a lot of loot after he fell through the ice and was submerged for over an hour. |

I definitely remember seeing the ordeal of baby Jessica falling down the well on TV in 1987. It was great to see that she was safely rescued. And it was also great to see moments where people from all over America (and the world, for that matter) were united in a common goal of rescue. It would be nice if America (and other countries) felt that united now- where the people were working together to make their country better instead of all the in-fighting between political parties and such.
Anyway- yes, I remember the Baby Jessica incident from the late '80s. It was one of the big news stories when I was younger. |

I don't remember much about the actual day that Baby Jessica fell down the well, because I was going through my own personal ordeal of literally starving down in L.A. and Hollywood. It was quite an experience, to say the least (my fun time in La-La Land, that is).

I dont remember anything about Baby Jessica. I was 5 years old when she fell down the well. Thank God, everything was ok. I have to ask, the person who rescued her, committed suicide? Why?
Vague memories of the 80s. How about the Energizer Bunny? Spuds McKensie, and lets not forget about the Bud Bowl. |
