Evil Grandmother, Any Updates? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Hi All!

I'm wondering if anyone recalls this case and what the outcome was. I think the mother's name was Ladonna, she was a single mother to a little boy and her mother (I think her name was Pat, if I recall correctly), was constantly berating her regarding the boy's upbringing and wanted her to go on welfare and not work. It turns out that the grandmother was into the occult and brainwashing the little boy, and actually kidnapped him when his mother cut off her visits with him! Does anybody know what happened with this case? Was the boy found? Updates?

The boy was found and returned to his mother. Interestingly, there have been accusations on here that the mother was a drug addict and not as good as she appeared in the segment. Not sure how true that is, though. I hope that the child grew up well and happy today. He'd be pushing 30 now or in his late 20s now.

I remember someone posted a Facebook link and it seems like she made up with her mother (the evil grandmother) and she even remarried if i remember correctly (the grandmother)

There was a movie made about the segment called "A Kidnapping in the Family". I did a google search of the title along with "Ladonna" and apparently Ladonna was arrested on drug charges during a sting operation in 2010 (according to a blog about the movie). Apparently Ladonna has remarried and her name is now Ladonna Chen. Jared's name is actually spelled "Jerad", and he has a facebook account.

Whether or not Ladonna was involved with drugs or other bad/criminal behavior when Jared was little....I have no idea. Satanic Grandma might have actually had the child's best interest at heart, and maybe was not as crazy as everyone thought (and how she portrayed in the segment) but Jared was NOT her child, so it was not her choice to make. Call the cops, call children's services, call the ex-husband and express your concerns....but you don't kidnap someone else's kid. (Not trying to drive that point home to everyone here, we all know she was wrong already....just sayin'
